I wouldn't talk about songs that are in Playtest if they haven't been announced somewhere on a band's or author's web site, for the reason stated above: a song could be "abandoned" by its author or perhaps a legal issue could come up that makes a song not allowable on the RBN.

The list of approved songs which I'm maintaining in the other thread is a bit different, since those songs technically are up on the Marketplace, just not viewable or purchasable until HMX flips the switch on the RBN store. HMX does have the ability to "un-publish" a song, but that would only happen in extremely rare circumstances.

There are a few on that list that I don't believe have been mentioned anywhere outside of the Creators site. If an author were to PM me asking me to remove a song from the list because they wanted to keep it under wraps for whatever reason I would have no problem with that.

I agree with the above and also ... For a band / song to be added to the thread,Please follow the proper formatting rules. I'll likely skip over anything not formatted correctly.

Edit : Thread will be updated to this point later on today.

I honestly don't give a **** one way or another.

I just thought people might like to know what was in the works, and I wasn't doing it to bring attention to myself.

People would ask hey what songs are up in the network, so I would post a few.

I don't care if people think I have insider info, or that I'm 'cool' or any other idiotic thing like that.

I was just answering people's questions for the most part.

In the instance of the POTUSA song, I know there's a lot of people on the forums that like the band, AND there was a big vocal faction saying that RBN was only going to be unknown bands that no one cares about.

So I was letting them(the fans) know that there was a POT song up, and letting the naysayers know that there is a bigger 'known' band in the network as well.

Anyone thinking that every song that goes into the network is going to make the cut are obviously deluding themselves.

I'll just keep my mouth shut from now on if it's going to get everybody's vaginas in a twist.

Don't make a martyr out of yourself. We all wonder what songs are being tested for release by Harmonix, too. Doesn't make it right for one of their playtesters to leak that information. In that case, those playtesters would be surely breaking a contract, but the point is that people wanting the information doesn't make an imperative for someone else to give it to them. It would be unweildly to make RBN playtesters to sign confidentiality agreements, but that doesn't stop us from showing the developers the same respect we'd show other developers. Taking it on yourself to announce songs not only robs the developer of the chance to do that on their own time, it also creates a sense of entitlement among the "fans" you're doing this all for. You can't just wash your hands of that for blaming them for thinking they were going to get that song. YOU gave them the reason to think that. No, its not reasonable, but that's why developers keep plans under wraps while they are developing. So no one gets unreasonable expectations. What if POTUSA ends up getting pulled? Then what was served?

Its a bummer when people try to bad mouth RBN, but you don't have to try to shut them up. Let them be proven wrong in due time. Or offer a cryptic response. Plenty of people have done that before and that's a far more fitting retort.

I take hours out of my day, testing and retesting RBN songs on every difficulty and multiple instruments so these songs can be the best they can be for everyone when the service comes online.

Some of the songs I personally don't like, but I play them anyway to help out the community to build a stronger product. All out of my own time, no pay, (and when the free trial comes up in a few days I'll be paying out of pocket to do so as I have no intention to author my own tracks), and obviously no thanks from some sections of the community.

Makes me wonder why I even bother sometimes.

What is the point in arguing this? People are going to find out about songs that are in playtest regardless of what the author wants. I don't personally condone the action but I know that there isn't anything I can do to stop it. That's why all Rhythm Authors songs will be announced before they enter playtest, gives us the power to announce when we like. The point that a song might not make it past playtest for whatever reason is a good one, it never occurred to me before because we won't let a song not make it through if we can help it.

Nobel,What you do is very appreciated ... I for one wish I had time to review songs more often so I envy you ... But my stance on this is pretty simple ...

Post and band / song in this thread with the proper formatting and I'll add it so long you have a source,I don't care where the source comes from ... You just need a source.

I have no dog in this fight, and I have no objection to you posting the track info as you have. But your most recent post is rather bizarre. What you're saying is that, because one or two people objected to you posting specific band/song names without permission, that means "some sections of the community" are ungrateful for you as a playtester? Wow. Martyr Complex + Poor Logic = Thread Degeneration.

Of course most people appreciate your contributions, but if the only thing that keeps you motivated is for every single person to agree with everything you do and post, well, you should probably avoid the Internet.

    *Main post updated*

Keep in mind that I will not see or add songs if they aren't properly formatted,I go through the thread quickly and add only the things that are white and bold. It's just a time saver ... Plain and simple.
