Ten - Pearl Jam What's the Big Deal?!

I see people all the time claiming that the Pearl Jam album ,"Ten" is amazing. I bought it, listened through it a couple times, and I hated it. I liked 2 of the tracks, Alive and Even Flow, but that's it. Can someone tell me what the big deal about this album is?

There is no big deal over this album and posting a thread about it is pointless.

I like the other Grunge albums from that time(Badmotorfinger, Nevermind, Dirt) But I've just never gotten into Pearl Jam. Mainly because of Eddie's voice.....

pearl jam is hardly a true grunge band so perhaps thats why their sound doesnt cater to your taste. in fact, of the main 4, id say nirvana is the only true grunge band, with soundgarden and AIC being alternative metal. personally, i think ten is a fantastic album, but its definitely much different musically to the other records u mentioned.

I loved it. Along with a *few* other people in the world.

Why? Because I like the songs.

Eddie has an amazing voice actually. Also people love it because it has well-crafted songs. From the ballads (Black) to the hard rockers(Even Flow, Porch, etc.) the album has it all.

No. First of all, grunge isn't even a real genre. Secondly, if you go back to the original grunge bands such as Gruntruck, Tad, and Mudhoney, they all have a heavier feel that Alice in Chains and Soundgarden have that Nirvana lacks (at least, beginning with Nevermind it lacked).

Ten is a brilliant album, my second favorite of the Big Four of grunge's debut into the mainstream (Nevermind, Dirt, Badmotorfinger, and Ten in case you were wondering). It's a pity that the OP doesn't like it, but not all of us can be as right as I am. :P
I will not remove this until Badmotorfinger is offered as full-album DLC.

I don't know what's the "big" deal with the album but I can explain why I dig it a lot. I dig the songwriting quite a bit, the instrumental side of the album is tight and has some interesting things going between the bass and guitar. The energy I feel from this album is another plus towards it for me.
