Wii guitar bluetooth dongle light flashing constantly

    Hi,

I haven't found this mentioned elsewhere. Apologies if this has already been answered.

I have just bought the "The Beatles: Rockband - Value Edition (Wii)" box set from Amazon UK. It all works just fine except for one annoying thing which is that when I put the Wii into standy the guitar bluetooth dongle flashes it's bright blue light constantly. I'm not sure whether it does this for everyone or whether it's just me. I was expecting that having put the Wii in standby and turned off the guitar that the light would go out.

Can anyone tell me whether this is normal or not? I know I can unplug the dongle but that seems an unnecessary faff if I can avoid it.

    Cheers,
    Mark

    Yes it is normal.

While your wii is on standby mode, it is still using power. Only way to stop the flashes is to disable the standby mode.

Thanks bipolar for the quick reply. Shame on the hardware designers, not putting a switch on the dongle. Argh.

    My thoughts exactly.

I suspect a bit of sticky electrical tape will sort it out nicely.

Or, stuff it so far back into your entertainment center that you'll never see it. (Only problem with that is, you can't reach the little button to resync the guitar/drums when you need to.)

I was bugged by the fact that my Wii never really powered down, including my cooling fans hooked up to the USB port. They would keep spinning when we were done, and the blue RB lights kept blinking too.

Turn off Wii 7/24 connect, (Settings) but leave your internet connection enabled. The Wii will then actually "turn off" (light goes red) when you hit the power off button, instead of just going into a light sleep. (Dim blue)

Until I figured out the above, I put a towel over the dang thing when I was watching a movie or a TV show.
