GH Guitars - compatible for real?

Hi there. The TB:RB website and users on this forum told me that the GH Les Paul controller would work with this game. So I bought one from someone on Craiglist. Well, it works fine, but only when I have the GH dongle connected... the RB dongle doesn't pick it up. So basically this means that I can use the guitar, but not with a full band... I have to either disconnect the drummer or the vocalist to free up a port for the second dongle. Is this how it's supposed to be? Do I need to go get a hub or a splitter now?

One of the hubs is a splitter, I don't remember which one though. And yes obviously you need to use the GH dongle for a GH guitar.

I know this is a bit obvious, but for the Wii you just have to put the Wiimote into the Les Paul and away you go. ! up for the Wii!

The RB2 Guitar dongle is a splitter
    Broken Bells/Sonic Youth/Kaiser Chiefs/Chickenfoot/The Strokes/The Bravery

If I plug the gh dongle into the splitter, then i have nowhere to plug in the harmony mics. I've got three USB ports and four plugs. I guess I was expecting 'compatible' to mean the guitars used the same wireless signal. So if I get a USB hub I'm good to go with two guitars, drums, and three vocalists?

Quite right. I have GH:WT equipment, and used a USB hub to be able to add a second mic, and no doubt a third mic if available would have worked as well.

As an aside, the dongle to the GH:WT guitar is also a splitter, adding two more USB ports, which is how all four pieces of equipment are connected into two USB ports on the PS3 at the same time. But any USB hub would work.

Hmm... ok, looks like I'll have to try and find the power cable for my old USB hub. Any idea if USB 1.0 is fast enough?

I assume if I had an actual wireless RB guitar (like, if the Gretsch ever becomes available for PS3 at under $100) I wouldn't need any extra ports?

The GH Les Paul is somewhat crappy compared to my Höfner... clicks a lot, much smaller scale, and raised instead of recessed buttons. Not bad for $20, but still...

As far as I know, all the PS3 guitars use dongles rather than native wireless (bluetooth?), even the new Beatles ones.
I used a cheap 4-into-1 USB hub, which works perfectly. It's not even a powered one.

Yeah, the Beatles guitars use dongles - I was just wondering if one dongle could pick up two guitars if they're both RB guitars instead of one RB and one GH. It's a little fudgy to say that the game supports six players without clarifying that a USB hub or splitter is necessary if you want to have any more than three.
