Wii Mic Glitch

hey this just started last night (received on xmas day mind you) but when i try to sing the needle on the screen glitches around up and down making me fail a song.....i've tried numerous things, i just dont know what else to do....

Try checking the USB connection, give it a blow.
Plug it in and out a few times.
It could be dirt, you see.

Is your Wii near a microwave? (I realise that sounds ridiculous) Things like microwaves can cause interference.

i shall try that..

and no it's on the floor in my room...i DID have it next to the TV and realized that may have caused the problem, but after i moved it and restarted the system it still glitched....

Hmmmmm...
Is your microphone near:
Another active/plugged in microphone?
An amplifier?
Your wireless router (if you have one)?
A microphone that isn't plugged into you Wii, but plugged into something else?
Anything that emits some kind of wave? (Radio, Phone etc.)

I'm pulling at straws now, but worst case scenario, these things can cause feedback problems.
