Yeah, not having a 7-string when you want to learn a lot of metal can be a problem. That's why I got my 7-string because a lot of music I listen to, they use 7-strings (Dream Theater, Mushroomhead, Scar Symmetry, Unearth, etc.), but unfortunately, I hardly ever play it because the pickups are absolute crap. So, until I swap out the pickups for a set of DiMarzio's, I hate to play my 7-string.
I'm thinking of, instead of saving for a 6-string Schecter, of going for the 7-string. I definitely want a good 7-string now, and I'm thinking this is my best bet.

Schecter has a whole line of 7-strings new for this year and they are cheap. I think they have one for each model and they even have 8-strings for reasonable prices.

I'm thinking about getting an 8-string or another 7-string with a fixed bridge this time.

I've always wondered...is having an extra string on your guitar the hardest part of playing a 7 string guitar?

Not really, what makes it difficult is adjusting to the thicker neck. You may not think so, but one string makes a difference in your finger positioning on the neck.

Yeah, I've played 7-strings at Guitar Center, it definitely takes some getting used to.

So, I'm totally stuck on my album. This is what I hate about not having a band, I don't have anyone else to contribute ideas.

I have three riffs, one's an intro that I don't have a follow-up to, one works well as a nice groove, and the other one is just awesome, if I may brag a little. Problem is, they don't go together at all.

So I came up with an idea about ten minutes ago. Anybody interested in a little collaboration? It's a metal/metalcore project, influences include Metallica, Bullet For My Valentine, Between the Buried and Me, All That Remains, things of that nature. Ultimately the goal is to get songs into the Rock Band Network.

I have to ask suggestions from someone here to, it's inspired by the Led Zeppelin song Traveling Riverside Blues, but I just leave it in standard tuning unlike the song. Anyway so i only have and intro and want to do something like the song does but can't think of anything that flows good.

    So my intro goes:

    ----------------------------
    ------------2------------------2-0
    -0--0—hb2-0----0---0---hb2-0------------
    ----------------------------
    ----------------------------
    ----------------------------
and i know thats really bad tabbing but i tried. Also i dont know how to discribe the rhythm but whatever. Also when you do the bend you hit the second string when you let off with your finger if that makes sense. If that makes absolutely no sense I'll make a video maybe

    @ someone180

Not bad, pretty standard, but it's good starting point.

Oh, and when tabbing, use Courier New font

    @ animemetalhead

I'm interested, but all's I have is a mic to work with as far as recording goes, but it still sounds good.

    Or code tags.

Ah, yeah, I used to be there too. Picking up a Pod was the best thing I ever did. Should you ever find yourself with the means, I highly recommend it.

Yeah, that's pretty much what everyone is recommending me. Well, work is slow right now, but it'll pick up for the summer so I'll then be able to afford a decent recording setup and possibly a new guitar.
