    Family Friendly question

We recently purchased Lego Rock Band (Wii version) for our children, with the intention of keeping to the "family friendly" focus we have. I now understand that those of us on the "family friendly" Wii console aren't able to download additional "family friendly" songs through DLC (not sure what the impetus was here from the development front).

Seeing as the web engineers have taken on the work of labeling and categorizing songs as FF (Family Friendly) I decided to go into Rock Band 2 SE (which we had to buy to get the controllers), to see how to access more FF songs. I see no settings in RB2 to control content, nor do I see in the online music store the ability to filter, or even sort by family friendly as one would see on the web. What am I missing here?

Nothing. That option is not available in any version of RB.

The LEGO game itself is the only version that "automatically" filters family-friendly content. In other words, *only* the songs that have been certified as FF will make it into LEGO: Rock Band.

If you want to screen DLC songs for your kids on RB or RB2, you'll have to do it manually --- in other words, look at the list provided on this website and don't download anything that isn't marked FF. As for the non-FF songs that are on the RB and RB2 discs, you're pretty much stuck.

If you're really concerned about what kind of music your kids listen to or play in RB, I'd suggest just sticking to LEGO, period.

That's too bad - seems like it would have been a great win for families with the family-oriented Wii to be able to download more of those family-friendly songs. Oh well, at least I know here I stand with what we've invested in.

    Thanks for the response!

Family Friendly means something different to everyone. If you're unsure about a song, quickly look up its lyrics. This works with just about any song by entering "[Song Title] Lyrics" into google or your favourite search engine. The songs aren't playable on Lego Rock Band on the Wii (unfortunately), but any song you download will be free for anyone to play in RB2.

For the best results, encourage the kids to stick to the plastic instruments rather than the microphone.

UGggg! Well now I see why certain songs me and the wife love aren't on Lego. Didn't even consider a filter. However the above content about "Family Friendly" meaning something different to every one is truly accurate. We have a 4 year old and an 8 year old and they love to mess around on Lego RB with us. They one of the reasons we picked it up. However; some of the songs filtered out shock me and the wife. We honestly have no problem with them. Just the opposite in fact!

To bad there is no "Super Easy" mode in RB/RB2 for the kids. =(

I don't remember if it was Don't Stop Believing or another Journey song, but isn't it about two strangers having a one night stand?

Anyway, if you go to the Live Marketplace (or whatever the PS3 calls it), you can find and download the Rock Band Music Store for free, which separates DLC into three groups: Rock Band (all DLC, excluding The Beatles), The Beatles Rock Band (The Beatles DLC only), and Lego Rock Band (Rock Band DLC that made it passed the Lego filter). This should help a lot when looking for songs that are appropriate for your kids without having to search on your computer every time you want to download something.

EDIT: Never mind. Wrong song, and wrong system. Damn, double whammy.

Crap, I had a feeling I'd miss something important like that. I kinda forgot what the OP said after reading all the other comments.
