I'll do a top four, because I can't make a list of 10. After four bands, it just devolves into bands I personally like (Opeth, Death, Deathspell Omega, High On Fire, Portishead, Gorillaz, Megadeth, Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.), not necessarily "the best bands of all time", and definitely not bands that can hang with my top four. Basically, I just can't justify putting those bands in the same listing as my top four (and by extension, comparing them to my top four).

    1: Pink Floyd
    2: The Who
    3: Nirvana
    4: Radiohead

I was unaware this had happened, but it sounds excellent.

My top 10 list would look something like this, although it is subject to change at any time (with the exception of Depeche Mode of course, who shall forever remain my favorite band):

    1. Depeche Mode
    2. Black Sabbath
    3. Devo
    4. Amebix
    5. ELO
    6. UnexpecT
    7. The Cure
    8. The Smiths
    9. Bauhaus
    10. The Boredoms
Well, my list has changed quite a bit, but I was right: DM's still my favorite.

    1. Depeche Mode
    2. Bauhaus
    3. Electric Light Orchestra
    4. Cold Cave
    5. The Cure
    6. The Go-Gos
    7. Concrete Blonde
    8. Roxy Music
    9. The Smiths
    10. Tie between Devendra Banhart, Class Actress, and Nitzer Ebb

Number 1 and to some degree number 2 are essentially set in stone, while the others rotate on a daily basis (though all of the groups in my original list are still in my top 100 shortlist).

I didn't realize Rocket was being serious when I read that last night, but just now my friend linked me to http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...light-20120731 and I'm totally edging.

I don't think I've ever heard a black metal band or song I liked, and admit I'm generally not much of a metal fan. But, if it's got Thurston Moore in it, whom I respect immensely, I'm going to have to give that band a listen!

I've listened to Twilight's debut before. Wasn't the best black metal record I've listened to by any means, but it was alright. Definitely an album that sounds like a supergroup made it, but it was decent enough.

Pretty cool they now have Thurston Moore though.

Their 2nd album was a lot better than the debut, which I consider pretty bland.

The first was bad, second was great, I hope Thurston brings weird tunings to the new one.
Not removing this until we get some Sunn O)))
in which case this will be on for a while.
