That and the fact that they're much heavier than any other band on there makes their name pop out at me.
Flogging Molly is mid tier also.

    1. Led Zeppelin / Robert Plant (his solo catalog has a ton of great stuff)
    2. Rush
    3. Queensryche
    4. Bob Schneider and all his various bands
    5. Dream Theater
    6. Muse
    7. Black Sabbath
    8. Iron Maiden
    9. Red Hot Chili Peppers
    10. U2

    Others:

    Triumph
    Yes
Deep Purple / Rainbow / Dio family
    Nine Inch Nails
    Porcupine Tree
    Rev. Horton Heat
    Junior Brown
    Heart
    Marillion
    Van Halen

    I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

EDIT: like Judas F'in Priest! Hello! EDIT: oh...and Tool and Queen.

Also, from reading the lat 10 pages or so I'm sure my list is not very "cool" as I don't have any avant garde bands but a list of mostly high-profile, mostly hard rocking / proggy bands featuring guys with long hair and flashy guitar playing.

I WILL be getting on Spotify to check out some of the bands on this list....a great place to get ideas.

    Silversun Pickups
    Green Day
    Bullet for my Valentine
    Breaking Benjamin
    The Used
    Linkin Park
    30 Seconds To Mars
    Shinedown
    Disturbed
    Stone Sour

    Honorable Mentions:
    Nirvana
    Death Cab For Cutie
    Skillet
    Red
    Hurt
    Muse
    Anberlin
    Flyleaf
    Megadeth
    Chevelle

This is my polar opposite list. I have virtually nothing but 20-40 year old music in my list and this has (I think) almost all music from the last 20 years.

I would like to listen to more "modern" music and find new stuff I like but every time I try I find myself unimpressed / annoyed. Maybe I'm just old / closed-minded. But if anyone can look at the bands I've listed above and suggest new bands I might like I'm interested in hearing them.

EDIT: I'm quite familiar with all the bands listed here other than Skillex and Red.
