Haven't read throug the whole thread so dunno if these have been recommended yet:
Chrome: Not exactly goth rock, began in the seventies and has influences from punk, psychedelic rock and early Industrial Records material. Lots of great songs and albums.
The Neon Judgement: Early material is more electronic, reminiscent of Front 242, but later in the eighties they moved to goth rock (Chinese Black and Tomorrow In The Papers are propably the biggest hits). Later nineties albums are more basic rock with electronic music influences. Great stuff.

Used to dj goth rock/industrial/ebm/newwave/postpunk some time ago and i really like the music. Too bad you have to endure all those goths if you want to go to clubs or gigs....
    Wantlist:
    The Smiths
    Bauhaus
    Fifties and early sixties
    Killing Joke
    The Cure
    Public Image Ltd
    More Industrial

chrome is one of those bands i rarely listen to more than once or twice a year, but damn if "half machine lip moves" doesn't blow me away each of those times.

"Half Machine Lip Moves" is indeed brilliant, but personally i prefer "No Humans Allowed". Does Chrome still make music?

CEEDZZ13: Starting points for Chrome or for goth rock in general? If Chrome, i have no idea; if Goth Rock, then definitely Bauhaus, Alien Sex Fiend, Killing Joke, Joy Division, Cure and Sisters Of Mercy. Or at least those were the ones that first come to mind

I was talking about goth rock, but is Chrome worth it?

chrome's great, but not very accessible... you'd probably have much better luck with the goth list shangfu dropped your way.

also, i always recommend ghost dance and skeletal family for people looking to get into goth.

More goth rock recommendations: Poesie Noire (Early stuff is more electronic), Clan Of Xymox, Garden Of Delight and Musta Paraati.

Should we consider Devil Doll also goth rock? Great stuff, especially Dies Irae and Eliogabalus albums. More like mixture of metal, punk, prog and classical, but usually works when i'm in a mood for some gothiness.

Early Death In June albums (Guilty Have No Pride, Burial and Nada) are also great, even though Wall Of Sacrifice (more industrial/folk) is their best album.

And.... Strawberry Switchblade!!! Ok, not exactly rock, but still.... so adorable! <3
