Les Paul Controller won't work on Wii - HELP!

I bought Lego Rock Band for my son for Christmas, I bought a Logitech Vantage USB Microphone for PS2/3 after reading that it was compatible and it's working no problem. However, I am having problems with getting the Wireless Les Paul Controller to work with the game. The Les Paul is for the PS3 - Guitar hero III Legends of Rock. I have tried everything but in the Story mode it keeps saying to connect a second controller as the 1st is the microphone. Can anyone help me please? I have checked on the list and it should be compatible.

There's your problem right there. You can't use PS3 controllers on a Wii. You need a Wii guitar controller.

mics are standard usb and are cross platform
example i bought a Xbox 360 rock band mic but it works on wii and ps3
