    4-Part Harmonies.

Why is it, that when all four of the boys sing a song (Carry That Weight, Sgt. Peppers (Reprise) etc.) You always hear Ringo's voice?

Is it because the other 3 harmonise and he just sits there?
Or is it voodoo gypsy magic?

Because... those are some of the very few songs where he sings backup vocals/where he sings harmonies with the rest of the band, and he has a very easy voice to point out compared to the rest.

Although knowing the Beatles' history with drugs, I won't rule out Voodoo Gypsy Magic.

Well, they're not actually harmonizing on Carry That Weight, they're just all singing the same line. And I guess Ringo's voice just doesn't blend as well as the other three do with each other.

To be honest, I can't hear Ringo's voice in Sgt Pepper's Reprise. I know he's singing along in the dreamscape, but I didn't think he actually sang on the track - see the end of Hello Goodbye, where the same thing happens.

Edit: Just Wikipedia'd it and it does look like Ringo actually sings on Reprise. I'll have to give it a good listen to check, I must be completely ignoring it.

That said, another example of this (Ringo's voice being clearly heard during a chorus of all 4 Beatles) is The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill. Good song. Love me some Ringo in that song.

Ringo has a really distinctive baritone voice, while the others have a higher vocal range and, well, blend.

Speaking of which, how many songs are there with all four members singing?

It's because he has such a unique singing voice. I think it's the unabashed Scouse accent that does it. GO RINGO!
