My Beatles drums wont work

I got the beatles rock band a couple of days ago but my bass pedal wont work. I didn't use it once but when i press on it, it won't respond. When i plug it into its slot it plays but not when I press on it. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

The port should have an orange ring around it.

yes i am pretty sure i put it in the right slot the first time i assembled it and i said every time I plug it in it will play but when i press down it wont

I can't understand what you're talking about.

Have you plugged the pedal in to the port with the orange ring around it?

When you are playing a song on the drums in the game, does the pressing the pedal register as a hit note?
