Question "fast" double bass pedal problem

Hi, sorry if the question was already answered, but the search menu doesn't really help me, so I hope you'll can

I have a ION Drum kit, with Pearl double bass pedals, and a Yamaha KP65 percussion pad (btw, thanks again David for your advices for all of this)

the double bass work great, however, when I try to go faster, the game (?) does not recognize all the kicks that I do

for example, I can easily keep my combo on long double bass section of WAHNTHAC, but I lose my combo on very fast double kicks like those in I.V.

I think the game (or Rock Band kickbox, or the percussion pad, I don't know..) recognize 2 input as one because the bass speed make the beater hit the percussion pad nearly at the same time

however, there is no problem when I try to hit the fast double kicks in I.V. with only one foot (but with 2 feet, it seems to register only 1 hit)

so... I try to test the sensitivity of the "Rock Band Kickbox" and the Yamaha KP65, and it's seems to be lightly better

if the configuration which the kickbox and the percussion pad are not very sensitive, the quick double bass can almost work, however, the second kick of a fast double hit with one foot is most difficult (because I must be more powerful due to the low sensibility)

well.. I hope I was understandable and you catch the idea, please excuse me for my poor english, this isn't my native language

thank you very much in advance for helping me

Actually, those charts are made for one foot so it makes sense that it is easier on one foot.

Perhaps your timing is just off? Go into practice and check it out. Play both doubles and constants are varying speeds to see if there is a difference or if it is all in your head.

I did, and this is like I explained it
if 2 hits are too "close", it will sound like only one hit from the game, however I can hear two hits from the percussion pad itself, and I know I don't move my feet at the same time

this is strange, and because of that I can't play very well, this is even not playable on the GH games in X+ difficulty

and I don't know if someone here fix this

It's the KP-65. I had the same issue myself. The sensitivity setting on the KP-65 also seems to lengthen the pulse as it gets higher. which in turn causes the kickbox to not see the distinction between the hits. if you turn down the sensitivity on the KP-65, it should solve your issue, however you'll have to hit the pad a tiny but harder to get it to register, but not much.

Could be the kickbox. plug in your KP65 into a port other than the bass drum. Then try double bass there. If it still doesn't work then its the kp65.

Yes, I was thinking the same

I guess I'll have to deal with hitting the pad a little much harder
I'll try the Kamiano solution too, and I'll tell you later
many thanks to both of you

It's also possible that you're hitting the double notes too close together in the same timing window. It would explain why it's easier with a single pedal, because the game could be registering your double hits with the first falling early and the second falling late.

To the OP, I have noticed similar issues. I have the kickbox, Yam KP-65 and dual kicks. Here are some of the quirks I have found.

    - There seems to be a limitation in the Kickbox on how quickly it can recognize/pass-through kicks in this setup. Once a certain speed is reached, the Kickbox will just stop send kicks altogether. I notice this in fill sections, big endings, and before the song starts. This seems to be Kickbox related issue for when I swapped out the Ion contoller/Kickbox with the J5, I could blast kicks like crazy with no limitations. Strange thing is the the J5 contains the Kickbox circuitry (perhaps its updated compared to my older Kickbox).

    - There seems to be a strange issue when using double kicks as opposed to just single. I have noticed that I am able to achieve faster and more reliable response from a single pedal than dual. Doing a quick snap with two pedals will sometimes not register, however doing the same quick snap with a single pedal seems to register. Some of it may have to do it my timing, some of it sensitivity issues.

    - Having the sensitivity cranked up really high on the KP-65 can cause some adverse affects. I noticed that quick double snaps are more reliable when playing softly, but when I start to play hard on the pedals, the Kickbox stops sending information through to the game on consistently fast sections. The best spot for sensitivity on the KP-65 is to slightly lower it so that very sensitive hits do not register.

Once you get things figured out, you shouldn't have any issues with the either double kicks or single. Your problems with I.V. is mostly likely timing or sensitivity issues with the KP-65. Don't have the KP-65 cranked on sensitivity, bring it back to about middle. Once you having things setup properly, you shouldn't have any issues hitting I.V. doubles with a single or double.

I have the same problem but I'm using a Roland KD-8 with the Kickbox.

I don't really know why it's not recognizing fast double hits since you can see the little light flash on twice on the kickbox itself, but not in game.

Sounds like it's most likely a kickbox problem.
