Never?!? Is this your first trip to the internet then? If not, then you had to have seen bands being complained about. It's kind of a staple of the internet, especially in forums that relate to music.
The hilarious part is that you just did.Personally, I hate rap. I i don't go around posting on blogs how incompetent rappers are when it comes to "attempting" to make music. No, I deal with it and life goes on. Grow up.![]()

I might actually enjoy Nickelback if they were an instrumental band tbh.

Nickelback is arguably one of the most commercially successful bands in the world right now, which means they're also the most overrated. I don't mean "overrated" as passing judgment, I'm just of the opinion that very few bands can obtain that and really deserve all that praise (same as they don't deserve all the heckling). Few can wear that crown without enough music listeners going "Wait a minute, I didn't sign off on that!"
Are they the sinkhole of songwriting talent people like to pretend they are for the sake of punchlines? No. But once you've watched a favorite band flounder in popularity—or worse yet, split up from a lack of success—it's easy to tend to resent bands like Nickelback who do just what it takes to remain popular, and don't really expand much from that. But I'm of the opinion that's no crime. The Nickelbacks of the world are making a living making music, which is plumb good fortune and I don't wish them ill for it over a matter of taste (I'd hate to get fired just because some people who read my spreadsheets—who weren't even in the department they were intended for—felt that although each one accomplished the assigned task, "they've been a little derivative, lately, don't you think?") So there's nothing wrong with Nickelback the same way there's nothing wrong with Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. But they do have their faults, and too ubiquitous for those who can't get around those faults to ignore them. Hence, the hate.
I don't like the hate, as I think it begets snobbery and just general ill will when people try to discuss their musical tastes, which can be an immensely rewarding conversation. But it's an opinion, and as much as I try not to dwell on my negative opinions, I'm sure not going to pretend to like Nickelback, either.![]()
Gamertag DackAttac
Obligatory DLC Wishlist Reel Big Fish, Fountains of Wayne, Motion City Soundtrack, Collective Soul, BNL, recent MCR
Even as an instrumental band, Nickleback would still be meh at best. They don't have enough guitar solos, tempo changes, or interesting instruments mixed with the standard Guitars/Bass/Drums combo. Now if they were an instrumental band and acquired the former keyboardist from Dimmu Borgir then I might enjoy it.

I listened to some songs of their very first album. It's heavier and darker than any of their other albums. Chad does some screaming here.
As for my opinion of the band, I don't hate them. They are just doing their thing.
More 90's music
Early Nickelback was pretty much a lame Nirvana ripoff attempt.
I'm talking their days back in the 90's with Hesher and Curb. Then they got all Nickelbacky on The State and you can take it from there.
