Circles with people at the end of a song?

At the end a song it shows 5 circles and sometimes they get filled with Lego people...what does this mean? Thanks.

These are the places for your entourage members, which increase either the number of studs or fans, depending on the member.

You unlock the members by playing the first song at each new vehicle.
