Just started listening to Vinyl Killer. Pretty interesting album. "Royronus" has an extremely catchy hook.

Also, the notion of "dark funk" interests me.

Eternal Elysium - Spiritualized D
Genre: Stoner/Psychedelic Rock
Year: 2000

This is probably the most psychedelic stoner rock album I've heard and also easily one of the best. Sometimes I really love Japan.

Recommended If You Like: Smoking yourself silly by 9am and listening to Black Sabbath.

Chokebore - A Taste For Bitters
Genre: Post-Hardcore/Noise Rock
Year: 1996

Apparently the first band to be labeled "sadcore", but these guys are far noisier than you'd expect with such an honor. It's like disappointment turned into sound.
This should hold appeal for fans of everything from caustic noise-rock to tense post-hardcore to miserable indie rock.

Recommended If You Like: Lowercase, Unwound, Scratch Acid, Young Widows, Slint, and The Paper Chase.

Cool man, I also have soulseek downloaded(well a linux client but it will work regardless) I just to need to get the network stuff corrected and I can start getting stuff from there as well.

Edit:Also out of curiosity when it comes to sadcore, where does most of the label fit into?

as for sadcore, most of it is basically the missing link between slowcore and depressing lo-fi indie...
like a lot of the very earliest bands in a genre though, these guys didn't fully fit into the mold that you'd expect nowadays and toured mostly with noise-rock bands.

honestly, it's a mostly silly and underdeveloped term but it works pretty well in regards to "if you dig this band you'll dig this one".

sorta like the vague differences between power-violence and emo-violence, and sometimes even fastcore.
