Glad to hear everyone's still enjoying this thread.

I won't be around the forums much for the next 3 days or so due to company, but I think I have enough of these pre-written to keep the thread going until they're gone.

Negative Plane - Et In Saecula Saeculorum
    Genre: Black Metal
    Year: 2006

It's rare to find an album that simultaneously conjures up strong and in your face traces of classic occult heavy/doom metal, riffing showing a love for death and thrash metal, and the suffocating bleakness of truly dark black metal. Not to mention these guys are able to back it up with excellent writing, skilled and effective musicianship, and a quality raw recording that does the whole package justice.
This album 100% does it for me and is one of my favorite black metal albums of the past 5 years and also probably my favorite drum performance in BM history.

Recommended If You Like: Celtic Frost, Ved Buens Ende, Beherit, Nachtmystium, Sarcófago, and Necromantia.

    Staring Into The Abyss
    A Church In Ruin

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Caretaker - Persistent Repetition Of Phrases
    Genre: Dark Ambient
    Year: 2008

You'll see the claim in nearly every review, but it really is fully accurate to compare The Caretaker's music to that which you'd imagine played in a decayed and haunted ballroom, just perhaps with more longing than terror.

Recommended If You Like: William Basinski, Machinefabriek, Philip Jeck, Jasper TX, Deathprod, and Lawrence English.

    Sample via Boomkat.
