That Machinist EP is something else, absolute insanity is a spot-on description.

The Suicide Commandos - Make A Record
Genre: Punk Rock
Year: 1978
Excellent early Minneapolis punk record with a bit of a new wave spell on the 2nd half of the album.
Surely an influence on the Huskers and Placemats.
Recommended If You Like: Stiff Little Fingers, The Dickies, Crime, The Vibrators, Eater, and The Dils.
Mosquito Crucifixion
Attacking The Beat
You Can't

Mandingo - The Primeval Rhythm Of Life
Genre: Jazz-Funk
Year: 1973
Exotica-influenced jazz-funk with some really nice heavy African percussion...
Self-aware, but focused on the music instead of silly samples or cut & paste cliches.
Recommended If You Like: Funky Exotica and/or Blacksploitation soundtracks.
Black Rite
Medicine Man
Chant Of The Virgins

I think I've come across The Suicide Commandos before, and they were pretty great stuff. The other album sounds interesting, too.
Sandpit - On Second Thought
Genre: Indie Rock
Year: 1998
Another obscure gem from Australia, this time sounding like a less obtuse, more melodic and gentle Blonde Redhead... Loads of excellent guitar work on this album.
Recommended If You Like: Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, Blonde Redhead, Seam, Eric's Trip, and Come.
Sample a few songs via myspace.

The Family Of Apostolic - Self Titled
Genre: Psychedelic Folk/Contemporary Folk
Year: 1969
A 22 song experiment by a family using the world's first 12-track studio in the style of almost every style of folk music that could be found at the time.
Only 264 last.fm listeners, yet 264 times better than Have One On Me.
Recommended If You Like: Any style of unusual folk, from Joanna Newsom to Fairport Convention to Kevin Coyne.

The Mandingo album is really cool, the African percussion puts a nice touch on the music.

Cortex - Spinal Injuries
Genre: Post-Punk
Year: 1983
There are lots of outside influences going into this mostly upbeat post-punk gem. Traces of kraut/space rock appear alongside poppy pub-rock choruses and a very strong grasp of ambience.
Probably the greatest Swedish post-punk album ever recorded.
Recommended If You Like: Echo & The Bunnymen, Bauhaus, Pere Ubu, Malaria!, Ausgang, and 1919.
Morning Moon
The Freaks
Napalm Sticks To Kids

Kopernik - Self Titled
Genre: Modern Classical
Year: 2003
Very beautiful string-based compositions with electronic flourishes and a subtle avant-garde touch, sometimes bringing to mind Alice Coltrane's more ambient material.
Recommended If You Like: Cosmic jazz meets electro-acoustic chamber music?

The Three O'Clock - Arrive Without Traveling
Genre: Neo-Psychedelia/Psychedelic Pop
Year: 1985
Most point to this band's debut as their masterpiece, being among those first few LP's to be considered Paisley Underground, but on this sophomore release I really think the band were at the height of their pop songcraft.
If half of the songs on this album had been recorded a few decades earlier they'd be oldies radio classics.
Recommended If You Like: The Byrds, XTC, The Dream Syndicate, Robyn Hitch**** And The Egyptians, The Dukes of Stratosphear, and Rain Parade.
Sample via choiceprivileges.

Proyecto A - Self Titled
Genre: Progressive Rock/Jazz Rock
Year: 1970
My Spanish is beyond rusty, but this album's themes are definitely planetary. Musically, it's really rockin' prog with a prominent brass section and large helpings of spaced out psychedelia, jazz, tropicalia, and soul.
I can't believe this came out in 1970, nor that it's not considered a classic in prog/psych circles.
Recommended If You Like: Gong meets Chicago meets Os Mutantes meets Soft Machine.
