Mickey Newbury - 'Frisco Mabel Joy
    Genre: Country Music/Chamber Folk
    Year: 1971

This is one of the most melodramatic country albums I've ever heard, bordering on chamber folk at times with it's lush instrumentation and huge production.
Praised and even covered by folks as varied as Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Bonnie Prince Billy, BB King, and Elvis Presley, Mickey's probably the most influential and important country musician that never got his due.

Recommended If You Like: Kris Kristofferson, Gene Clark, Scott Walker, Townes Van Zandt, Neil Diamond, and Guy Clark.

I've really got to pay more attention to this thread. It's so overwhelming though!

I don't think I want to know how much music you have, afterstasis, let alone how you even come across some of these gems.

    The Veldt - Afrodisiac
    Genre: Shoegaze/Alternative Rock
    Year: 1994

This is one of the most unique shoegaze albums you'll ever run into, and possibly THE most passionate, energetic, and soulful. There simply isn't another case of someone so effectively mixing hip-hop, soul, and r&b influences into this side of rock music.
I'm not exaggerating when i say that I love this just as much as "Loveless", "Souvlaki", and "Nowhere".

Recommended If You Like: The Jesus & Mary Chain, A.R. Kane, Kitchens Of Distinction, Adorable, Moose, and Curve.

Sample part of the album on some radio blog thing i found.

    You mean "Nowhere"?

Anyway, aw man, does this sounds fantastic. I'm downloading it now.
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.

I'm believe I'm listening to a "dance" mix of the song, if this dance mix is not a butchery of the song I can't wait to get this album, it is awesome.

yeah, there are two remixes at the end of the album (one being a remix by the jesus & mary chain).
they're not bad, but definitely nothing in comparison to the rest of the album.

i have no clue how these guys aren't at least popular amongst hardcore shoegaze fans, but i've never met anyone else who had heard of these guys before.
