Does anyone know if they were aware that the third season was the last or did they think they were getting renewed?
I thought it was a pretty good ending, Al couldn't kill Hearst, he was too powerful and Deadwood would have been ripped apart if they had. It was low key but in the end the town came out on top, they drove Hearst off.

But the town didn't really win. They drove Hearst off physically but he still had men staying put, he got the Garrett claim and they rigged the elections. It felt to me like there was going to be an all-out war for Deadwood in the fourth season if we had ever gotten it.

Then, last night, I was reading up on some old news stories about Deadwood and found out that there was a plan to film two 2-hour movies to wrap up all the story lines but somehow that never came to be. And that makes me sad because, as I said before, I absolutely hate when a tv show isn't given a chance to end properly.

Rose of the Devil's Garden - Tiger Army
    Don't Change - INXS
    Highway Song - Blackfoot
Tonight She Comes - The Cars

That's at least better than when a TV show is given a second chance to clean things up, and botches it. "Alien Nation," I'm looking at you.
It's all right. Everything will work out fine.
It's all right. We're going to the end of the line!

It's even worse for David Milch's other show, John From Cincinnati. Granted, it was a rather odd show and the pace of the storytelling was very, very slow, but it was really starting to get interesting in the end of the season... and then it didn't get renewed.

An interesting bit of trivia is that Ed O'Neill (better known as Al Bundy), who is absolutely stellar in JfC as retired cop Bill Jacks, was the actor Milch originally had in mind to play Al Swearengen. I still believe McShane was perfect for the part, but part of me is really curious to have seen what O'Neill would've done with it. He probably wouldn't have been as quietly menacing, but he does handle the typical Milch monologues really well, as seen here in a clip from JfC.

Aqua Teens Hunger Force may just be my new favorite animated TV show of all time.

And Carl is now my new favorite animated character of all time. I'd love to have him as my neighbor.

Just watched season 1 of Sons of Anarchy and Modern Family. Modern Family was entertaining enough but I rarely found myself laughing out loud.

Sons of Anarchy was as cool as I thought it'd be, although Jax really annoyed me sometimes, just the way he talks and the stupid hardcore looks he'd try to give got really tiring. But yeah, awesome show, gotta get onto season 2 sometime.

    Currently watching:
    • Entourage
    • Eureka
    • Futurama
    • Mad Men
    • Rubicon
    • Sherlock
    • Talkin' Bout Your Generation (awesome game show type thing hosted by Shaun Micallef, an aussie comedian/tv personality)
    • The Good Guys
    • True Blood

Believe it or not. I'm liking "America's Got Talent". Compared to "American Idol" (which I only watch for the auditions only), it has various things going on and it keeps to entertained.

I'm about to start watching the HBO show "Rome". Hopefully this one has an ending but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

It's a great show, although I found the first season to be better than the second. It doesn't end with as many plot threads dangling as Deadwood did, but there is clearly more stories to be told at the end of season two.

Good to know. I just finished the first episode and it was okay - nothing special. It doesn't have me clamoring to jump into the next episode the way Deadwood did.
