There was a point where they were pushing 8-12 regular tracks a week along with RBN tracks. 5 tracks a week was a compromise between their team and Sony to not flood the market. It's as much if not more a Sony limit as it was a HMX limit, at least from my understanding from when HMX posted.

Sony tests for a lot of things when they test DLC, and their testing pipeline is longer (a good example is the Who Superbowl Smashup delay), so the limit helps keep that somewhat reasonable and doesn't piss off Sony.

Amberian Dawn sells, so I can understand that. Same with JoCo and Bang Camaro. Even the Main Drag I can understand. But other bands have had some pretty vocal demands too (Gomez, Apples in Stereo, and Free Spirit are 3 I can think of off the top of my head, I think Rose of Jericho had some followers). We didn't get any or all of their tracks, and they had far less than the Main Drag in RBN. Apparently we are even missing 1 Main Drag song that prevents a goal from being finished.

Now, I'm glad we're getting any RBN, even if I'm not heavily invested in it (I think I only have 24 RBN songs, including 2 RBN2 tracks), but it would be nice to get a bit more or a bit more variety, and perhaps a few more forum favorites ported over like they mentioned they might.

Again, it falls to sales numbers - and probably the response early songs from the same artist got over on the PS3.

They ported over "Energy," the best-selling of the Apples in Stereo songs. And while it did well, the other five songs are averaging around 200 scores each on the 360 leaderboards after having been available for nearly a year. Not particularly good "let's add more from this artist" sales. Free Spirit had similar (slightly higher) numbers, but again, only their best seller was brought over to the PS3.

In retrospect, all twelve Amberian Dawn songs that came over had 800+ scores on the leaderboards, and all higher than the best sellers from Apples in Stereo, Free Spirit, Gomez or Rose of Jericho. (Actually, scratch that, Lost Soul only has about 700, but it's also only been out for about two months.)

Dance Floor. 370 scores in over a year. Variety is the spice of life, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will sell.

Sure, I can understand them only porting over tracks they'd consider would sell well, but just because they had a sucky "score" or sales on the 360, doesn't necessarily mean they'd be the same on the PS3.

You have to remember the 360 has way, way more choice, so what sells better on there, would be a very different story on the PS3 with what limited choices of metal, metal and the occasional emo/prog track we got.

Since RBN 2.0 has started up, i'm really disappointed by the selection. I haven't bought a single track yet. I hope that "Blue" and "Sick, Sick, Sick" make it over.

But, seeing that so many of us still want some/all of the remaining RBN 1.0 tracks, perhaps it's something Harmonix could consider. How much time/effort would it take to publish the content onto the PS3?

If Sony allowed them 10 releases a week, they could easily keep up the 5 RBN 2.0 releases and 5 RBN 1.0 releases each week.

If Harmonix can't do that, and don't even try to push through more than 5 RBN 2.0 releases a week, it'll end up just like RBN 1.0 - where we only get a small percentage of what's available on the 360. Do we want that to happen?

True enough. And while typically the numbers DO reflect similar sales patters to the 360 (selling about half as well on the PS3), there are the occasional exceptions to the rule. To date, though, I don't believe there's a single RBN song that's ever sold better on the PS3 than it did on the 360.

One other nasty hurdle that might get in the way - does an authoring company need to "relicense" a song to go cross-system? Not sure how it works, but if that's the case, even a popular song might not be able to make the jump to the Playstation 3 if the band label decides they don't want to play anymore.

Prior to RB3, the Free Spirit songs had around 1000 plays that I saw. They're all around 700 now, but that's on the RB3 engine only.

There has been at least one RBN song that sold better on the PS3 than the 360. (No, I won't tell you which one or ones. But it's interesting trivia.)

As I recall, there was a period (even before the PSN outage) when the PS3 wasn't getting any RBN songs, and the 10-song weeks were making up for that. It doesn't mean that Sony would be able to keep up with that on a permanent basis.

Nope, I believe they were just trying to pick up the pace before the crossover

I believe it was Christmas week where PSN didn't update, and so those 5 plus the next 5 were in the next update. I might be wrong though.
