    Third Eye Blind
    Johnathan Coulton
    The Gaslight Anthem
    Flogging Molly

Yeah these are obvious choices considering their mainstream appeal but I'm foaming at the mouth for some Gaslight and Johnny C. makes me happy inside.

    Tangentially On Topic

    I'm gonna contradict myself here.

I hope that the final selection of songs for PS3 and Wii won't be based just on popularity on Xbox. (Nothing biased about that, nope, nuh-uh.) Nobody's going to be surprised to see the X-box top-tenners showing up on the other platforms. (Bang Drowning Seether Third Finger Blind Punch, Flogging Coulton, and so on.) The cynical side of me tells me that it's all about the Benjamins, so only expect the big sellers - but the hopeful side of me (and HMXsomebodyorother) remind me that they said they'd port "standout tracks" (whatever that means.) I (naturally) think one of the best things about this whole experiment is that the Rock Band community has a chance to learn about, and fall in love with, a lot of music that they otherwise would not have heard. I'm not even talking about unknowns*, but people like Apples in Stereo, Kristin Hersh, Scratching the Itch, Zack Wilson and so on don't show up in the request lists. Even The Hold Steady, who aren't exactly obscure and kick all kinds of butt, aren't being clamored for so much.

I understand that, without immediate access to the stuff on your consoles, you guys don't have a lot of incentive to explore the more obscure music showing up here. But it'd be a shame if you missed out on it - even if it eventually doesn't make it over, there's nothing stopping you from checking out the tunes.
