Okay, so, here's how it goes.

    Pro:

    Has internal memory (100 Gigs)

    Can use wireless controllers

Is Backwards compatible with some Original Xbox games

    $400 (US)

    Core:

Comes with no internal memory, which means you cant save any game, or make an Xbox live gamertag or basically anything ( A separate 20 Gig hard drive costs about 70 dollars)

Have to use wired controllers (Unless you get a wireless receiver for the Xbox)

Unless you buy a Hard drive for it, you cannot play Original Xbox games

    $260
But, if you're doing what I'm doing and want the core system, and just buy the other things seperate so it's basically pro, it will come to about $340 BUT, I will only have a 20 gig drive, and not a 100.

Oh ok, I see now, thanks a lot, doesn't the pro also come with the 20gig hard drive?

Looks like I have a decision to make, I think I might do what you do and just buy it all seperately, but I'll look into it more, I might be leaning towards the $400 just because it seems like it might be easier since it comes with everything.

    Yea that's actually incorrect.

    Xbox 360 Core $299.99
    No HDD
    Wired Controller
    No other accessories

    Xbox 360 Pro $399.99
    20GB HDD
    Wireless Controller
    Headset

    Xbox 360 Elite $479.99
    120GB
    Wireless Controller
    Headset
    HDMI output

I bought a 360 Pro back in March. I felt the Elite is unnecessary for me. The Elite, imo, is if you're saving all sorts of movies, music, tv shows, downloadable games, etc. And if you have a really nice HD TV and stuff. Which I have a basic 27" tube tv.

If you want basic gaming, and a drive to save your files, the Pro is sufficient enough. I've played over 15 games on my Pro, and have only used 13GB out of the 20GB. It's enough imo.

It's rumored that they plan on dropping the price of the Pro down to $299.99 in a couple months. But no one knows for sure.

I've had my PS3 lock up 3 times due to overheating (like 85 degrees in my room), so I'd say the best thing you can do is just keep the 360 well ventilated.

One REALLY big problem with that. I bought it used. I have no clue how old the system actually is. And I dont know if the warranty is still even valid. Any way to check?
