    Reaper copy/paste = FAIL!

Yeah so I just noticed when copy/pasting stuff in Reaper, it tends to overlap the copied and the pasted notes, and then when you drag the pasted notes away, it deletes a large amount of the original ones. So this leaves you with a song with lots of missing notes. I didn't notice this so I saved it. Now I have lost hours of work.

What it is doing is when a note is placed directly on top of an existing note that's identical to it, Reaper makes them into one note. Normally, this is what someone would want.

The answer is to use paste only into areas where this overlap won't occur (you control where the paste goes after all).

If you want more control, try the drag-copy (which on the Mac is you hold down command then drag selected notes--and on the PC is "I have no idea")

Sometimes on the PC [I've never used Reaper] you can drag-copy by clicking and dragging with the right mouse button.

Reaper's UI is all kinds of weird, so don't count on it being the same as every other app out there. But yeah, the point is, you can do it.
