Agreed. Not a bad album by any stretch, but not one that I find myself ever listening to for pure entertainment or enlightenment. I've personally never agreed with either extreme party; the critics who give it terrible reviews because it hurts their ears, or the extreme fans who hail it as the turning point of popular music and another of Lou Reed's golden turds

I like the album, but I still think the liner notes are really what makes Metal Machine Music what it is. Love that stuff.

it's not the first time an artist vocally downplayed a recording of theirs that i enjoyed, and i doubt it'll be the last.

Good review of Kid A. Nice to see someone on this forum who doesn't either think it's overrated as hell or make it out to be the greatest thing to happen to music in the 00's.

I listened to MMM, and can't say I overly enjoyed it. I thought it was OK, and that it was good for the genre, but I've never been too into noise rock to start with. I much prefer Lou Reed with The Velvet Underground, or his more standard rock stuff. Like others have said, I'm not too much on either side of the argument.

My favorite part of "Sister Ray" is when the guitars are screechy and distorted, and though the lyrics make the song what it is, I sometimes felt they got in the way of it, so MMM was manna from heaven for me.

Jesus Christ, I hate that album. And I like dissonant, harsh, noisy music.

MMM is an alright piece, but it's problems lay in recycled textures. Also:

    noise rock
    harsh
These comments describing MMM is hilarious.

I was really tired when I typed harsh, so yeah, my bad.
