Radiohead - In Rainbows 8.5/10
I figured I should start actually listening to some other Radiohead albums aside from The Bends before I hear the new album, so here's the first!
Rush - Caress of Steel 8/10
I think this might be my new favourite Rush album. Especially Bastille Day, love that song
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake 7.5/10
I hadn't heard anything but good about this record, so I got it; first listen on the way in today. I hadn't heard her work since Stories from the City so I didn't know which direction she'd be going in. Her vocal styling is much more supple and delicate than I'm used to from her: it's new ground as far as I can tell. Thematically, she's stepped far from her bodice-ripping "HEEEATHCLIIIFF" wails, and rather than her broken women she directs the whole album at the subject of war: broken soldiers, broken civilians, broken countries. The album features the only song I know about the effects of depleted uranium armaments, and the best quote of "summertime blues" to appear in any song, ever.
I still like her first two records a lot more. If I weren't so thick-necked about that I'd probably have given this one an 8.5 or 9. I'm going to be listening to this one a lot, though.
I can't get over the fact that she's only a month older than me.
Oh yeah, new PJ Harvey's out. I should check that out soon.
Seasons After - Through Tomorrow 9/10
Very respectable debut. They are another one of those bands that blur the line between rock and metal. Too bad their newer material doesn't sound more like their debut. I think it may have something to do with their original singer leaving after the first record. It probably does have everything to do with that. Oh well, they had a bright future...

Tyler, The Creator - Bastard
OFWGKTA is gaining a lot of hype, and a bunch of bandwagoners... with good reason, ignore the kids who are saying this is the next wu-tang, it's good and Goblin will be awesome but it's not the godsend everyone is calling it
