I've already said why it shouldn't surprise you, but to paraphrase...

Korn > stereotypical nu-metal band > Follow The Leader, stereotypical nu-metal album > nu-metal: metal with elements of hip-hop and/or rap > guest artists on FtL: Fred Durst and Ice-T

Considering all these things going in, you should have expected to hear a bit of rapping I'd think. Unless you had no idea Korn was a nu-metal band, then that's a different story...

I don't listen to the radio.
Maybe not, but based on everything I've read from you on here, you live off singles (unless it's Paramore) and singles, generally, are watered-down songs meant for radio play. Just looking at the Korn ratings and now the Slipknot ratings, all the singles are at the top in both cases.

The gospel, right here. "Virus of Life" is one of the best, and most creative, songs Slipknot's ever done.

Big Big Train - English Electric (Part One)
    9/10

Excellent neo-progressive album from Big Big Train, occupying a space somewhere between the symphonic sound of Gabriel-era Genesis (songs like "Uncle Jack" and "Upton Heath" in particular), the guitar-driven neo-prog of Pendragon ("The First Rebreather"), and the layered counterpoint of Hogarth-era Marillion ("Hedgerow", an incredibly strong final track). Not sure I'd go far enough to call it a contender for Album of the Year in my book, but it is nonetheless an exceptional release that will likely be firmly planted in my musical rotation for years to come.

Marillion - Sounds That Can't Be Made
    8.75/10

Other than a couple of weak tracks toward the end, easily the band's best album since Marbles.

The Prodigy - "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned": 7/10

The mack daddy of lukewarm reception albums when it first came out (primarily because of the hype their previous record, the iconic Fat of the Land, created in the 90s), the panning was totally unwarranted. In fact, I think it's a better album than both Fat of the Land and Music for the Jilted Generation, though I may just be biased because I appreciate the more industrial approach here.

    Blood Sugar Sex Magik

I always considered myself a "casual enthusiast" of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were pretty nifty and I dug some of their songs really hard (By The Way and Californication come to mind). I wasn't expecting this.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik was in short: incredible. 90% of the songs felt like they belonged there, and the pacing was fantastic. The album starts with a weak hook, which lowers your expectations then BLAM! The rest of the album kicks in and... god damn. Great riffs, awesome energy, and lots of fun are to be had. The slow songs are fantastic. The fast songs are great. The vocals are awesome. Everything is sweet and I really didn't expect something like this. Easily the best album that I own on Rock Band, topping American Idiot. Good job, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I think Breaking the Girl is my favorite from BSSM.

I know you played it in RB but you should give the unedited version of Sir Psycho Sexy a listen. Or at least look up the lyrics. It's the most edited song on RB and it is filthy.
