Botch - We Are The Romans

    10/10

one of the most perfect "core" albums ever.

I will never forgive that ****ty band We Came as Romans for using that name and instantly associating something as amazing as the album with something as terrible as that band

I checked out Soundgardens whole discog, since I'm seeing them Friday and was only familiar with BMF and SU. Their earlier stuff was worthwhile, but not as interesting lyrically or musically as their BMF and past stuff, although I did enjoy Louder Than Love quite a bit.

    Screaming Life/Fopp: 7/10
Again, not as sonically interesting as later stuff. Shows their punkier side more, and definitely has at least a few good cuts like "Hunted Down" and "Swallow My Pride", but doesn't compare to what they will later achieve. Historically, actually a good example of pre-Nirvana grunge.

...ugh, too much work typing on this damn iPod. I'll do the rest tomorrow...

Cars Get Crushed - Blue and West

    8/10

pretty cool emo sound mixed with 90's indie I originally saw it called "emogaze" which peaked interest, but it's not that... it's still a really cool album though

    yes you do

True Widow - As High As the Highest Heavens and from the Center to the Circumference of the Earth

    7/10

very cool sounding album, slowcore with a shoegaze feel, not like Galaxie 500 more on their own

    The Veils - Nux Vomica

    9/10

y'know that feeling when you've heard great things about an album but never really checked it out even though you have this feeling you'll love it, and then you kick yourself for not listening to it earlier? that's how this album makes me feel

    Low - C'mon

    5/10

really medocire, I'll probably give it another shot, but not that good at all on first listen

Stephen Malkmus & The Jinks - Pig Lib

    6/10

well it's no Pavement, but it's not that bad on it's own

The Middle East - I Want That You Are Always Happy

    7.5/10

a very interesting folk album that I've yet to completely digest, definitely going to spin this again. Very, very good first impression

I listened to a lot of new albums today

I was OBSESSED with this band circa 2008. you should definitely check out their first album, "The Runaway Found", I think I like it better than Nux Vomica

I think I'll go pick that up right now, I can't get enough of Nux Vomica at the moment

Kanye West & Jay-Z "The Throne" - Watch the Throne

    8/10
It isn't better than MBDTF, so don't expect the hype to be the same, overall as an album it is a very good pop album with lots of political undertones. Tracks like "Why I Love You" and "*****s in Paris" however are some of the best hip-hop songs in recent memory. I feel Jay-Z holds the album back from being amazing, he just feels out of place. This is definitely a Kanye album just with Jay-Z doing all the guest verses. Check it out if you liked MBDTF it's in the same vein with a lot more Jay-Z
