Umphrey's McGee - Death By Stereo
8.75/10
Unexpected move toward 80s and early 90s pop-rock on this album, with more than a few allusions to post-punk, funk, R&B, and disco along the way. It's a gigantic nostalgia trip, but one that's very well put together. Biggest complaint? At 41 minutes, it's a bit on the short side.
Wolves in the Throne Room - Celestial Lineage
8.5/10
While not the band's best album, and not really treading a lot of new ground, it's still an album that stands on its own quite nicely without resorting to gimmickry. Very workmanlike in its approach, with very few down moments. While short on innovation, it's still a quality release.
The Nerve Institute - Architects of Flesh-Density
6.5/10
One-man heavy prog project that has a reasonably solid musical background, but falls short with amateurish production and a fair bit of repetition. Still, "Prussian Blue Persuasion" and "La Jealousie" stand out as notable tracks, but still makes me wish M. Judge would get a proper band together rather than trying to one-man the whole thing.

The Kooks - Junk of the Heart
6/10
onk wasn't too bad, and neither was JotH, but nothing has been able to come close to Inside in/Inside Out. My expectations were kind of dashed.
Spiritual Unity - Albert Ayler
5/5
I shouldn't have to say anything about this album
Background Music - American Nightmare
5/5
it's a classic type of week

Ash Borer - Ash Borer (8/10)
Let's face it, this was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I guess mainly because they don't have a crappy drummer.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold as Love (10/10)
It's Jimi, what more can I say? I prefer Are You Experienced? and Electric Ladyland, but only marginally. All three are legendary.
