    Okay, where do I start:

-The production falls into one of the most facepalm worthy traps that most indie artists fall into these days, which is having the music be overproduced by having it underproduced. It honestly comes off as so bad that it sounds like they need new equipment because what they have is broken or a lo-fi texture thats so bad that it comes off as just as fake as the glossy sterile overproduction of mainstream pop.
-These songs are just unpleasant to listen to for me, it just sounds like they made it as odd and noisy as possible so they can attract hipsters into liking it just for how different it is and making them say "Oh you don't get it, it's experimental, just let it grow on you", but no, the more I pick apart this wall of noise the more shallow it becomes.
-Every instrumental part is just off in it's own little world instead of coming together and actually, you know, making music. The results are awkward at best. The vocals are eternally tweeish which could've fit in with anything else but here they just don't work at all, just like pretty much everything else. Not to mention random guitar parts for the edge of EXTREEEEEEEME that ranges from fun to annoying on it's own. Why they bothered getting their own guitarist when they could've just sampled old Weezer songs and nobody would've noticed, I'll never know. Oh yeah, the synthesizer sounds like it came from FL Studios.
-I really, REALLY did not want to know what it would sound like if Belle and Sebastion started rapping.

Bottom line, I could see potentional in this album, I really can, but unfortunately, it's drowned out in messy production, bombastic yet boring intrumentation, and pretentious hipster wankery. My rating still stands.
    and you like Muse?

Their last two albums ranged from meh to bad, but yes, their early efforts were excellent IMO.

The Sleigh Bells album was pretty good. It's not experimental, there's nothing to "get." It's not really that different.

I happen to love this album, to love Muse, and to dislike hipster pretention. I hope I have messed up some sorting algorithm of genre preference.

Look, maybe since you guys listen to more indie than I do it's easier for you to get into this album, but I am familiar with many hipster bands and have a pretty good understanding of what kind of indie I like so even if I did start to listen to more of this kind of music I doubt it would change my opinion of this album much. If you hipsters out there who listen to nothing but obscure indie stuff are attracted to this, fine, I understand, but indie as a whole is pretty hit or miss for me and I can say for sure this was definately a miss, sorry if I don't have time for a Q&A session.

    Moving on now....

So....what was wrong with this album again?
