    P-Bass for PS3: Any Improvements?

I've been thinking about ordering a P-Bass for the PS3 but reading the reviews over the months they all talk about connectivity problems, randomly dropping signals, and no matter how close they are to the dongle they can't correct for it.

Do any PS3 users who might have gotten the P-Bass recently have any thoughts? Is it still having problems with the connection or has that been addressed at all?

That seems to be the 'big one' in complaints. And if that's our new instrument maker...well... thats a worrisome point.

I was unaware the P-Bass is for the PS3 now, when did this come to be?

Also I would get it regardless

It's been out since 2009, but of course I have yet to see it in stores. Best Buy carries it for Xbox.

I want it too, but if it can't connect, or they haven't worked on that aspect... then it's not worth an investment if you can't use it.

I'm interested in the P-Bass (PS3) myself... so if anyone would reply, it would be much appreciated.

Why do I have a feeling that like most insturments needing a dongle, it will drop notes once in a great while or be delayed. But I don't think that the effects are any greater than another other insturment using a dongle.

If anything sounds like gossip or a few people got bad ones or something. Maybe even a few 360 users trying to scare the PS3 users away (lol)

Just check Amazon.com and you'll see what I mean. There were/are some major PS3 complaints saying the instrument is unplayable due to it not connecting. There's just less reviews now so I'm wondering if that means it might have been worked on, or if it was just a bad batch in the beginning.

I have one. Well I have had 5 of them. All of them had this problem. I got my first one when they came out, and had to keep sending them back before I gave up. A friend of mine bought one a few weeks ago and it still has the problem.

It's not a minor thing, it makes the game impossible to play most of the time. Every minute or two it will lock up and not register any notes for 10-15 seconds. Every 4-5 songs it will stop working completely and you have to restart RB2 to get it to work again.

The thing is a piece of junk.

I have the red one that I have named "The Red Rocket". I have owned it since one week after they were available.

Now it is not perfect, it disconnects once every five to ten times I play. And I've noticed that it disconnects only when I do not have the front of the guitar facing the doggle, easy fix.

The only other problem it has and I am kind of upset about is that when I have a stomp box plugged into it, the whammy knob does not work. But only when the stomp box is in, otherwise it works fine.

Aside from the problems, it plays really well. When I miss notes, I know it was my fault and not the bass. It plays better than my Rock Band 2 guitar when it comes to dropped notes. So much so that I have been thinking of getting a Telecaster when they come out for the PS3.

All in all when I play online and I trade back and forth with the other guitarist, I, no joke, play my guitar with my bass on my back. And when the next song is loading and I have to play bass, I switch controllers in the controller settings and put my guitar on my back with "Red Rocket" in hand.

When it comes to controllers I have noticed that I have always been lucky when it comes to getting bad controllers. (knock on wood) What it comes down to is finding something you can live with, not being so picky, and just have fun with it and don't take it so seriously...it's a game.

    BUY

Good you got lucky. I don't have that kind of luck. I went through 5 guitars before getting one that worked well enough to play with (RB2 Strat), so with the bass sounding like it still has problems holding a connection... I don't like taking hours out of my life doing exchanges (especially if it is done via online).

Don't take it seriously? Of course I have to take it seriously when shotty equipment is involved. My dollar, my time.

Sounds like its boiling down to the waiting game again.

I was also looking into the P-Bass until I read all of the bad comments about dropped connections. We seemed to have similar problems with our GH LP and its dongle.

We've never had a problem with the RB guitars and their dongles losing connection.

Folkeye: Wait until the new instruments are announced for the PS3 & RB3. Hopefully HMX will be sharing their dongle technology with Mad Catz.

It would be great if they would come out with a guitar that uses Sony's bluetooth controller technology, but, Sony doesn't appear to be sharing that with anyone. If you by a non-Sony controller, it's RF with a dongle.
