my GF has informed me that the songs chosen for the soundtrack are some of the songs that meyer would listen to while writing the books. meyer's also apparently a HUGE muse fan, so that take how you will

Songs like "Decode" by Paramore, "Meet Me On The Equinox" by Death Cab For Cutie and "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forver)" by Muse were created for the films.

Yeah, they picked the bands, but not the exact songs.

For example, "Time Is Running Out" is much more appropriate to the story than "Supermassive Black Hole". I will say that I think they (the soundtrack producers) picked a better Linkin Park song.

The instrumentals are good. The lyrics are kinda bad. Really bad, actually.

EDIT: It sounds like a mix of "Guiding Light" and "Resistance."

It's a love song. Most love songs aren't exactly known to be profound pieces of music.


I love the instrumentation. It's like they took different elements of some of their previous songs and blended them up, and this is the smoothie that came out.

So...there was an interview with Matt Bellamy, and apparently (contrary to popular belief) the new song was not written for the movie specifically. He apparently wrote it sometime last year after breaking up with his girlfriend.

I broke up with my girlfriend - it must have been about 8 months ago or something. I basically wrote that song pretty much immediately after that.

The Twilight people contacted us and were very keen to get a song for their film and I thought 'Why not?'.

I might as well just bung it in there and get it out there because this song represents a bit of a difficult period for me in my life. It's the kind of song that by the time we get to the next album might not be relevant any more. My life might have changed and moved on. It's kind of like a cheesy love sentiment I suppose.

When I wrote the song, it was quite a heavy thing.

Honestly, I actually really like this soundtrack. Muse, The Black Keys, The Bravery. Good stuff.
