Ok that's BS. I can understand if liscencing stopped them from getting them in game, but just feeding us the SAME information we've been given over the last two years isn't cool. I'd like a straight answer as to why they're not here, not a cop out. Fair enough if they can't talk about it for legal reasons or whatever. I'm sure HMX tried their best to get them in game, but I just really want a specific answer as to why they aren't

616,738 requests to no avail. All these years of waiting. I used to admire your hard work as I looked through your vast music store, ever waiting for my favourite band. But not anymore. You have failed to deliver and given insufficient answers as to why. I feel led behind the light and I am sick of waiting, so I'm out. Sayonara Rock Band

Do you think it would help or hurt our chances of getting bands in the game if we were to say "oh, while in negotiations, this band did this" or "this band's label wanted X, Y and Z" or "this band member made this ridiculous request"? Airing that dirty laundry in public can only hurt our relationship with that band / label, and discourage other bands / labels from working with us again in the future. And yes, if we started talking openly about private negotiations or licensing deals, there could be legal consequences. That's why you haven't heard more than you have.

FWIW, that number of requests was reported incorrectly. That's the number of ALL submissions on RockBand.com/request. There was also additional context in our panel for how we pursue bands and the most common reasons why bands haven't appeared in Rock Band as of yet. These 4 reasons apply to pretty much every band and if we're able to clear those panel discussions with Legal and Music Ops we'll share that information on the forums as well.

You know, I'm actually kind of glad HMX never managed to release more Muse DLC. That's weird coming from me, I know, but them not releasing more songs to play in the game actually pushed me to go see them in concert more.

Allow me to elaborate: Rock Band lets you interact with the music, which allows you to get a deep connection with the songs you love. To get that same sort of level of connection with Muse's music, I started going to their concerts. In 2010, I saw them 2 times. In 2011, I saw them 4 times and 2 of those times was a trip to England to see them play Origin Of Symmetry all the way through. They didn't tour the U.S. in 2012, but in 2013 I saw them on back-to-back nights.

Over the past couple years I've seen the band in concert 8 times. That's 8 times more than I probably would have if I could just play the songs in Rock Band. As it is, I'm waiting for Fall U.S. tour dates now, so I can see them again and enter the double digits.

So, when all is said and done, HMX not being able to get their songs has been a good thing because it got me interacting with the music via the live experience and at one of those experiences I got to shake Matt Bellamy's hand. I wouldn't have been able to do that at home.

The one thing I will say, slightly critically, is that if the band wanting their own game is what held them back, I feel that HMX should've caved and either re-skined Green Day: Rock Band or made the Muse game instead. But at the end of the day, I still have "Hysteria" to play in Rock Band and the songs to listen to on record/my iPod/computer.
May 20th, 2012: 4 long years since HMX released "Hysteria" by Muse. The wait for more Muse DLC has to end at some point, right?

I don't understand that rationality RBR. I saw a ton of bands live because they were in Rock Band or I'm friends with the band. Nothing stopped me from seeing a band simply because they were in a game. The virtual band is not the same as seeing your favorite people live.

Several years later and still waiting for the real reason why Rock Band had no more Muse songs, since it was the most requested band of all time and Guitar Hero had no problems having more songs from them. It just doesn't make sense, seems unfair.

    None.

That's the kicker for me too. I don't get it. There had to be some sort of bad blood or artist backlash against the usage of the songs, perhaps after the GH pack(s).

I really don't understand the thought process here that there has to be some super secret reason why they didn't get anymore songs into the game. Look, I would have loved more Muse songs in Rock Band but is it so hard to believe that it just didn't pan out? It's pretty clear the folks at Harmonix tried their damnedest to get as many artists into this game series as they could and for reasons beyond their control they couldn't get everyone they wanted or everyone that was requested. Despite this they still delivered tons of additional content to us over the course of the series' lifespan and on a weekly basis no less.
