    Thanks!

My computer works again, my classes are (nearly) done with, just four exams and I'm free. School tends to get in the way of everything.

Honestly, before the new Coldplay songs started coming out, I was expecting something similar to Viva La Vida (heavier of course, and with more guitar, but the string instruments, the harmonies, the epic feel. Since Coldplay has secured that feel of song now, I am now fully expecting something even more grand in 2009. BHaR has an "epic" feel to it, and I don't think Muse is going to leave that behind.

The thought that their new stuff is going to be "epic" like BH&R is probably a safe bet. I hear quite a bit of arena rock (i.e. Queen, Boston, The Who type stuff) influence in the feel of BH&R and I don't think Muse will leave that behind, I think they're going to take that and see how far they can push it. Also, BH&R kind of felt like they were trying to squeeze as much of their live energy in to studio recording as they possibly could. I don't mean that raw, "We're playing on this record like we're playing live" kind of feel. I mean that it felt like they were trying to take that adrenaline rush - that I'm sure all of you who've seen them live have felt while watching them play in a large venue - and put it in to their studio recordings. I see more of that rush coming out in the new stuff.

I also see more of Rush coming out in their new stuff. I think they might be going more toward epic, 6 or 7 min songs like KoC.

    Just my 2-cents!

A friend of mine was recently describing Muse to his parents (who hadn't heard of them), as a combination of Radiohead, Queen, and Rush.

Not bad comparisons at all, really. Radiohead is the second coming of Pink Floyd; Muse is the second coming of Queen?

I described Muse as the best modern band around to my parents. Also telling people how its a nice change of pace to hear something thats not metal or whinning crap that we hear. Muse is certainly the best modern band around. I even said that they could be the next Beatles (with records and stuff being number 1 and stuff)

Plus it is now one of my life long goals is going to the UK to see Muse live.

Man, all this talk of new Muse material makes me excited.

It's going to be epic, I think that's a safe bet.
I think it's also safe to say they're going to push as many boundaries they can.

I never describe Muse to anyone. I don't really have to; everyone I know either doesn't ask or has heard a song or two. (Hysteria or Knights of Cydonia, mostly, and mostly the latter.)

So I just went out to eat with my family to celebrate my cousin's birthday/brother's graduation.
While we were there, they played this song that all of them knew and I didn't. So while they were all singing along to it, I was thinking, "Just wait. They're going to play Muse, and I'll know it and none of them will."
And about three songs later, they played Starlight.
Obviously, the P.A. system is iTunes driven.

Just more proof that iTunes is psychic. I'm going to ask it what the new Muse stuff is going to be like now.
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.

I for one, love BHaR, has my favorite song on it Starlight is amazing.... but honestly an album that takes the best elements from all Muse's albums would be made of pure 100% epic win!

I forgot to mention this, but a few days ago radio became self-aware. I sat in my car and was going to change CDs (I had Audioslave in) and thought to myself: "Man, I wanna listen to some Muse." My car stereo switches to the radio when CDs are removed, and what do I hear on the radio? And this is the last time I'll abandon you!!!! I was stunned
