Hmm, I live in the middle of nowhere in MD, perhaps a better place to find country music or whatever the kiddies are listening to, rather than something like Muse. I think I'll hit up Amazon. (Amusingly, HAARP is the first result if you search Music for "Muse". ;D)

Probably because it is their latest CD that they released.

Muse's live performances can make you see their music in an entirely different light. Especially Invincible. Live performances of Invincible are incredible.
HAARP doesn't disappoint.

My first Muse song was... aah, I think it was Hysteria. I remember a friend had mentioned this band called Muse, and played Absolution for me. She skipped right to Hysteria, since it was her favorite song from the CD. I thought it was OK. Then a few months later, I was in the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City and they were playing the local modern rock station. By fate, they played Starlight. At the end of the song, the DJ said "Blah blah blah, that was Starlight by Muse". The next day, I went and bought Black Holes and Revelations.

Another few months later, I talked to the same friend who played me Hysteria and found out that she didn't even know Origin of Symmetry or Showbiz existed.

Every CD retailer I've visited had HAARP in stock.
In fact, most of them had at least five copies. O_o

I've seen a couple stores without HAARP. Then again, one of them was sold out, and the other one was Wal-Mart, and they have a crappy music selection.

Well, Harmonix did promise to have 500 total songs released by the end of the year, so I wouldn't call that slacking off. More like the opposite, they're going to be working their asses off.

We can expect an average of about seven songs a week if their estimate is correct. If some of them are albums with say, twelve songs, that leaves slots for weeks where they release their usual three. And since they just did a huge pack, I don't think we'll have another monster week next week. Maybe the week after.

I'm definitely not expecting huge packs every week, just an album a month (probably) and probably a huge pack a month too. The other weeks will probably have 3-5 songs or so.

My Wal-Mart goes a step worse. They have a couple small shelves devoted to Rock, Pop, R&B, AND Rap. Then there's the country section, which is as big as the genre-mushing section listed earlier. Funny, I always thought rap was the most popular music here in northern Indiana, but I guess Wal-Mart thinks otherwise. Then there's the Barnes & Noble, which has a very large rock section, at least 10 times as big as Wal-Mart's rock section, and it doesn't even have a rap section. And that gives me hope for the world.

Again, my local radio stations are mostly focused around rap and country, and the guy at the only rock station in the area laughs if you request anything that isn't metal (I've tried) so I get my unintentional Muse fix from restaurants, and that seems to work pretty well.

I don't really know what to expect. Harmonix generally likes to throw big curveballs, so I'm going to try not to speculate. They can go ahead and release whatever size pack whenever it tickles their fancy.

We did take a picture of the Rock Pop/R&B section of the Wal-Mart, with the marker in question, and it had the band markers for Shopboyz and Shins right next to each other. I don't know where the picture is, but if they're including those two in the same section, they desperately need to reorganize.
There's a record store in my town that has separate sections for rock, indie, and metal. The indie section spans one aisle, the Rock spans four, and I haven't actually checked the size of the metal section. Then there's a rap section, which I think is two, but I don't know. And then there's a whole section of the store devoted to vinyl stuff that I haven't checked. It's where I usually buy my CDs, because most places in town are more like the Wal-Mart than anything else (except the Best Buy that's pretty far from my house. Decent-sized rock section, and gets some imports, too, like the Com Lag EP I bought yesterday and a limited edition Black Holes and Revelations that included a DVD with some music videos and live videos. I didn't even know that existed.)

We have plenty of rap stations, classic and 80's rock stations, and country stations. There's an "alternative" station, and they mostly play Nirvana, Three Days Grace, Nickelback, and other various bands with vocalists that sound like heavy smokers (and sometimes Optimistic by Radiohead, just to give me slight hope for the station to promptly yank away). Nothing that considers playing Muse, though.
That sushi place tends to play everything, though, so I'm pretty sure my hearing Muse there was a huge coincidence. That, or they have iTunes, which can sense that I'm thinking, "I hope they play some Muse."
