But did you ever notice how annoying potheads can be? I work with teenagers, and a lot of them only want to talk about weed and how great it is. It's the be-all, end-all of their existence. They ascribe mythic qualities to it and ignore all the bad stuff.
It's much like the way Muse is genuflected about on these forums. I mean, sure, they're a good band. But they're not exactly the Beatles. And we already have one of their best songs, which is more than you can say for a lot of other great bands.
Back to my original point: Here in California, we have a proposition on the ballot this November that would legalize recreational marijuana use for those 21 and over. When I first heard about it, I was pleased, as it seemed like a legitimate blow for freedom over the traditional repressiveness of these often Puritanical United States. But as I began to hear from more and more dopers about how oppressed they were, and they were gonna, like, kill themselves if the measure didn't pass, I became less enthusiastic.
Which is the same way I feel about every week when the DLC is announced and it's not Muse, again, and everyone cries about it.
I'm still voting to legalize it, but if it goes down in flames (no pun intended), I'm going to take a perverse pleasure in the anguish of all the dopers who've placed such importance on it.
And if more Muse DLC comes out, I'll probably buy it, but there's part of me hoping it never does so that all the annoying Muse-heads never get their way.
Can you tell I'm on summer vacation?
