Wow, I thought everyone exaggerated Muse fans, but I come in here for the first time in forever, and DAMN, do you guys get butthurt when Harmonix makes another Muse joke.

"Why don't they just tell us?" Same reason they don't tell any details about any band?

"Why do they have an attitude?" They're poking fun. You're calling John D. an *******. Attitude or not, theirs is certainly better than yours.

"Big laugh at our expense." Are you one of the people constantly pressing for Muse even though they know the forum demand? If yes, stop. They know. Are you one of the more tame Muse fans? Then it's not directed at you to begin with.

The reason people get "butthurt" (as you put it) is because this thread has been in existence since December '07. The only Muse song available for the game is "Hysteria", which was released as DLC in North America in May '08 (on disc in Europe for RB1).

So, after 3 years of nothing else, people are frustrated. HMX somehow manages to release 2 albums worth of material from Pearl Jam and Megadeth, a game dedicated to Green Day, numerous DLC releases from Foo Fighters, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and more, all the while there is a chunk of the fan base crying out for more content from Muse and they are just being ignored and overlooked.

For YOU, the jokes might be funny. But for those who have been waiting and check the DLC announcements week in and week out in hopes of seeing Muse in the headline, the jokes f**king hurt.

Replace the word 'Muse' with any band with little/no content. You'll notice the argument's exactly the same. You're not a special group. For instance, I would like Coldplay. Difference between us? My choice has had ZERO songs. Muse has infinitely more material on Rock Band.

Also, here's a wild guess. You have NO idea of Harmonix's licensing. Maybe they have Muse. Maybe they don't. Maybe Muse doesn't want to have much content in games. Maybe it's prohibitively expensive. Maybe the label is being difficult. I'm tossing out very common reasons why X band has more content than Y band.

If you can give ONE thing that says Harmonix isn't/hasn't gone for Muse, THEN maybe you can say they're ignoring this portion of their fans. Until then, I will compile a list of bands that haven't been in Rock Band(or have little material) and come back saying Harmonix is clearly ignoring those potential artists.

Considering the GH series has had 8 tracks from Muse on their platform, I don't think the hold up is due to them not wanting their content in games. If anything, I would guess some d*ckery on Activision's part is the reason why HMX hasn't been able to license more Muse tracks for the past 3 years.

It's also probably the reason that Coldplay has appeared on GH and not RB.

8 tracks, most being left behind pre-exporting, or left behind in exporting games.

Either way, you've successfully admitted to yourself that there are external roadblocks other than Harmonix hating you, so I think we can move on.

GH did manage to release "Supermassive Black Hole" as DLC twice. Once for GH3, and once before they ended DLC for GH:WoR.

Also, look at all the other songs that didn't export for the GH series. Out of an 80+ list for GH:WT, only 30 something actually exported out.

I understand that making DLC is a long process that involves a lot of legalese and hoops to jump through. That said, I still have a right to be frustrated that an artist I enjoy isn't getting representation (just like you do for the bands you like).

It's still minimal content no matter how you cut it. More than Rock Band? Yes. Large amount? No.

Actually, I think they DID manage to follow-up and add in some things, but Muse was still never included.

I would also guess that one of the things holding up Muse (besides any GH "exclusivity") would be Warner.

The band recently (within the past year or so) signed with WMG, and the back catalog was switched to being under Warner's control.

Now, given HMX's history with Warner (which was blown out of proportion) it's possible the label doesn't want to license to HMX. However, there have been a lot of WMG artists released as DLC and on disc, so that argument doesn't hold much water.

The Warner thing is definitely blown over, but it could easily bring a money factor into it. Warner does want more money, and I'm sure Muse wasn't cheap to begin with.

If anything, I think the reason for the lack of Muse content is that HMX would be (or possibly is) in licensing Hell.

HMX would (very likely) have to get permission from Warner U.S. AND Warner U.K. to release content.

What I'm wondering is, how can HMX get permission from the original rights holders when the original rights holders have been cannibalized by Warner?
