In theory. Some audiophiles claim they can hear the difference.
I am quite the audiophile myself, and I couldn't hear the difference between My dad's gramaphone player and the same songs played from CD's through my Creative X-Fi Soundcard on my computer, through the same speakers. (We wanted to test the theory).
Granted, that is an expensive soundcard, but I thought they sounded identical. My dad thought they were identical as well. Perhaps a cheap CD player doesn't output sound as cleanly?

The PR transmissions will resume.
I myself prefer the CD, it's more transportable (at least compared to the LP's... the 7" singles are about the same) and it's easier to convert to digital. I doubt anyone could put their old 7"s into their computer and have them on their iPod in 10 minutes... Plus, if you have a good enough stereo there really should be no difference.
Edit: I looked for the clear vinyls Sveppi mentioned and they were sold outI went and requested a copy though.
Well, I mostly want the vinyls because they're awesome![]()

I only have Who's Next on CD :'(
I've gotta go down to the local record shop and see if he has any Muse vinyls in the vinyl back room.

I unfortunately have no vinyls, so I can't brag about it. I do have Who's Next and DSOTM on CD, though. I'll have to go through my dad's record collection to see if he has them. I'll bet he does.
I used to have all my CD's alphabetized by artist, but that was tedious after a while when I wanted to listen to ZZ Top, so I just ended up buying a CD rack and putting them all on there so I wouldn't have to grab the very bottom CD. (I don't actually own any ZZ Top albums, that was just a really easy example)
