On and off since Christmas of 05 I believe.

And I shred on a simple Fender Strat, directly out of the Rock Band box.

But seriously, it looks identical, might be the same model.

My next investment is in some kind of pedal or some kind of effects. Then after that, I'll buy a new guitar.

Hey TAB, where did you find that Fuzz Factory and how much was it?

Also, WBT, how much was your Ibanez? I've always wanted a colored guitar, maybe green or red, something that stands out.

It was $600, I believe. Here's the guitar on Ibanez's website. I have the black and white one, but there's a red one there, too. It's also got a Floyd Rose bridge so that you can whammy without going out of tune, making it very easy to play that part in "Knights of Cydonia". And, another plus, it has two full octaves, which I don't believe most Strats have (well, mine doesn't).

If you can't find that particular model near you, then you can pretty much try any Ibanez RG. I've tried the RGT42DX which is also an awesome guitar. It's got different pickups, though, so that's the one noticeable difference.

A lot of RG's have unique paint jobs, so if that's what you want, then you should be able to get it.

Any other guitarists in here? I've been trying to learn some Muse songs, but they are actually more difficult than I had expected. Most songs sound so simple, but are really hard. Likewise, the hard-sounding songs are difficult, like "Stockholm Syndrome". "Hysteria" is a ***** to play the solo for me. "Plug in Baby" is just crazy. I can play "New Born", but not the triplets. I can't play galloping songs like that, so I just play the first note.

Also, "Knights of Cydonia" is extremely easy to play. It's an amazing song, though.
I've got to agree with you about Knights of Cydonia there, it's very easy. The hardest part for me is the chords, and those are pretty easy. I guess I'm just good at tremolo picking.

Anyway, I'll give a list of my Muse songs on guitar.

New Born - all of it except the triplets, which I play as 2 notes
    Knights of Cydonia - all
    Hysteria - all
Sunburn - the chorus and solo
Muscle Museum - most of it
    Dead Star - all
    Exo-Politics - Main riff
    Stockholm Syndrome - all

And that's pretty much it. But I also have the piano:

    Apocalypse Please
Sunburn - everything, including the arpeggios at the end. I can do it myself, but the arpeggiator is easier.
    Starlight
    New Born intro
And I'm working on Hoodoo and Space Dementia.

And as for bass, I can only do Hysteria. With hammer-ons/pull-offs.
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.

So do you make like Matt Bellamy in New Born?

Also WBT, that's kind out of my price range as a high school kid, so I was looking at this: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone...73-i1174173.gc

    Or something around 300 bucks.

Well, I just looked around on Guitar Center and there is an RG for $300 and the reviews are good:

There are also some other cool cheap models here. I would try any guitar before you buy it, though.

You're lucky, we don't have Guitar Centers in Vermont.

Well, I don't have a piano here, looking to buy a digital one eventually. I used to be really good at it though, and most Muse Piano isn't actually that difficult. I learned Butterflies and Hurricanes' bridge a few years ago, and I think that is the most complicated they get. I know the piano parts to New Born, Starlight, Apocaplypse Please, and Sunburn, plus Feeling Good, although the last sounds odd without effects.

Guitar, I started less than two months ago, but I can play Knights of Cydonia, New Born (the CD solo), Stockholm Syndrome, most of Hysteria, Invincible (no solo), Muscle Museum, Time is Running Out (mostly).

I am currently working on learning Misirlou, because my friend challenged me to play it.

I know that I can/could play (although I don't have a drumset anymore) Time is Running out, Hysteria, and Stockholm Syndrome on drums.

I guess I am rather multi-instrumental. I practice guitar quite a bit, at least two hours a day, since I really want to get good at it.

As for my Fuzz Factory; I found it randomly in a Guitar Center, and it cost about 170 with tax.
    The PR transmissions will resume.
