Your friend is probably a liar then. It might not work well with one, but it should work, so long as you can turn it to clean.

The PR transmissions will resume.
my skillz of the guit-fiddle are weird at best. I can play the bassline for Hysteria, sometimes i can play the opening riff from plug in baby (though i think i might be in the key they use in the acoustic version on that live radio performance...), and i can sometimes play the ending riff from Knights (albeit at about 3/4 speed). but then everything in between that i'm kinda eh at.
any suggestions of Muse songs for the self-taught player to learn? preferably something that doesn't rely too heavily on effects, because i am sans-pedal, and i would like to be able to tell if i'm playing the right notes, even if it won't sound exactly right.
I can't believe we're getting more Rush this week. I've always hated them (Geddy Lee's voice makes me want to puncture my eardrums with ball point pens), and there's quite a bit of them in the game to begin with. Time for HMX to pick a new band to throw themselves after.
I really have to get some effects pedals. I can play parts of quite a few Muse songs, but I'm unmotivated because they sound pretty lame through the clean channel. I really want to get one of those mini Kaoss pads...I've got enough room on the bottom of my Jackson to mount one on it. That would be premium.
As for full album DLC...Origin is my overall favorite, but I think BH&R would be more suited for RB. I would really love to see Haarp though.

I'm a pretty big Rush fan myself, but i can certainly see why someone WOULDN'T like them. Geddy does have a really unusual vocal quality, and while they're all very technically talented individuals, they don't always use that talent to emote and connect with the audience. Frankly, I don't think I would hate them even if this hadn't been the case, but when i was still a wee little cribling i lived in a singlewide trailer with my parents and a rush cover band, so loud, floor-rattling renditions of Rush songs were my lullaby.
in any case, my love of Rush aside, I would like some more diversity. no, wait. Screw diversity! I just want more Muse! and lots of it.
BH&R would be hands-down the best studio album for RB (in my opinion), though all of my favorite songs are from the albums before it, and the highest concentration of songs I love are on Absolution. truly, it is a conundrum. good for me, or good for Rock Band?
ah, but the old needs of the many thing comes up here. How many non-Muse-fans would download Origin or Absolution? especially with so many piano solos. and how many would download BH&R (especially after potentially hearing Knights on the Game That Shall Not Be Named)? and if nobody downloads the album, we won't get more of them. so... *le sigh* BH&R it would have to be. actually I love that album too, so it's alright =P. Really though, is there such a thing as bad Muse?
.... okay, maybe the f'ing motherf'er song.
I still stumble on the Plug in Baby riff. I've been working on Knights of Cydonia, but I have to play with uncomfortably thick picks or the tremolo picking goes straight to hell.
In all honesty, I can't wrap my hands around playing Muse songs. They're all just frighteningly difficult for me, even the easiest ones.

As TaB said, you can plug an effect pedal in to any electric guitar. It just goes in the line between the guitar and the amp. As for the Whammy bar, if your Squire is a Strat copy then there's a good chance that it has a floating bridge, in which case you can get a whammy bar for it (or it should've come with one). Check for a small threaded hole in the bridge right below (when you're holding it like you play it) where the strings connect to it. If it's got that hole then you should have a whammy bar. side note: if you're refering to the Digitech Whammy, it's an effects pedal.
I've got music books for Absolution and BH&R but I don't use them too often. They're a good place to start but I usually try to learn songs by ear. Also, if you're just starting out, I'd suggest learning and memorizing as many chords as you can and then practicing them (and switching between them) until your fingers fall off. Also, learning scales is a good way to improve your finger speed.

wow.. a day and sooo many new pages...
woofmix.. amazing... add me anytime for some hysteria rocking on PS3.
As for the album option... im sticking with BHAR because it has more guitar and would be more balanced for a full band overall.
Id rather do a "best of... rockband edition" though, so i could pick song by song the best ones overall for any given album. Already posted my pics several pages back so guess i wont do it again.
As for guitar playing... i learned by tablatures... like.. ehh.. 15 years ago and then droped it because somehow i got bored with it. Sold my electric guitar + amp and kept the acustic one. From time to time i do play a bit.. but i still wonder how it would have turned out if i'd had kept on playing and got really good at it. Might have made it.. who knows![]()
