There's a concept in the music industry, and also in software and other such "intangible" industries, called "work for hire." If you create something "for hire," you have no control over any part of it. Whoever "hired" you doesn't even have to credit you. For more details about how "work for hire" works, see Wikipedia.
If something wasn't created "for hire," then the creator has more control over it. Exactly how much control depends on the contract signed between the creator and whatever companies are going to handle that creator's work. But in all "for hire" scenarios, the creator gets only a paycheck, and that's it.
