Ah, you're messing with a terrible can of worms there. If you're worried about unwanted frequences, I would see if you have an auto-auto-tuner that can be adjustable. If you set the auto-tune to a very low amount, it can fix pitches (a little) without being obvious or even noticeable (although it won't get rid of all of them).

But if you don't want to do that, the "unwanted frequencies" should be ignorable, as long as you don't overdue the reverb and echo.

I'm just talking cleaning out above 1k Hz to knock out any harmonics (and below 80 or so, might as well give bass more headroom). Most vocals we get, they obviously did pass filters, but even those without generally sound pretty good. So it probably will need reverb and such effects to fill it out.

Something was up with the Nightfall video, I think our capture rig is starting to go bad. :/ I'll see how quick we can get that fixed.
Hmmm. I think I might wait for the other Askari Nari songs to hit. Maybe. It's interesting, that's for sure.

And there's no way I'm buying that Silent House song with those vocals. No thanks.
8/9/11 (Def Leppard) will be marked as the best day in RB history for me. HMX, major thanks for all this amazing DLC you put out!

Chuck a vocal compressor on there since the dynamic range seems to be all over the place, might help keep them consistently level. Maybe enhance the mid frequencies, from about 1kHz-4kHz as well as a high-pass filter to knock out some frequencies below 200Hz or so.

With what atalkingfish is saying, maybe just slight reverb, not sure what's meant by echo since reverb is considered to be echo as well, but I assume you guys are talking about delay? It's probably not necessary.

You could always try panning things more to the sides so that the vocals have enough space in the middle. They seem to get lost in between the keys and bass.

Ah, I see. I was noticing the treble-osity of it.

You could just record your own version of the vocals without telling them until it's released xD

Yeah, by echo I mean delay. Usually a very slight delay and slightly more reverb can help a little (and I'm only talking about a TINY bit of delay)

No, no, no, see, we're trying to make the vocals sound better.

Keyboardist/vocalist/occasionally bassist for Silent House here ^^

By - I guess you could say "popular demand" - I did actually make a re-recording of the vocals that should sound quite a bit better. Realized the problem the vocals had in this song after the preview was posted and the vocals made a bit more noticeable in the song

I understand myself that I'm not the best vocalist in the world anyway, but at least this version should get rid of most of the harmonics and stuff that made the vocals fit so badly with the music.

    See ya

...so, yea. There's that bit of information. We'll likely redo the preview video for In Between when we apply Anton's new vocals. Which may be soon, since our recording setup should be fixed.

On the releases side of things, Askari Nari has hit the store in force this week, while Morgawr makes their much-delayed and much-awaited return to the Network.

On the PS3 side, I'm still surprised we have a PS3 side. And joining its chiptune brother next week is SoulEye's Positive Force, the more... relaxing of his tracks so far. It's only mildly insane. And still insane but also f'n hilarious (as determined by Danny himself), The Battle of Lil' Slugger carries on to PS3, a console where the game itself can never go.

So now we're focused on keeping up the release pace, cleaning up the backlog. I'm hoping we can get The Blue News to you all by the end of the month, as well as clean out the VVVVVV/SMB sets.

We've listened to your demands! Then promptly ignored them and did this anyway. Enjoy!
