Every decade has audio fecal matter pass as mainstream pop. It's just that more people are complaining about 2000's audio fecal matter than there are people complaining about it's equivalent from the 1950's, 1970's, 1990's, or 1940's.
Bands I'd love to see as DLC for Rock Band:

    Bathory []

    Amorphis []
    Emperor [X]

Because those have all had successive decades for us to forget/move on from them.

More or less although many people still seem to dwell on 80's audio fecal matter for some odd reason.

Don't really hear any pretentious Beatles vibe in The Vines. Always thought The Vines was channeling a Rolling Stones meets The Who vibe done within the confines of the 2000's garage revival style.
