I know a lot of people on here play this wonderful member of the string family that was once made as a less expensive version of the lute. It's also known as the cither which is Iranian for "three strings" which I always found odd because in it's modern incarnations it is a 10 stringed instrument. Our German friends would refer to this wonderful sounding piece of art as the Waldzither and Lutherzither. Why would they call it the Lutherzither? Well it is belived that none other than Martin Luther himself enjoyed plucking the strings of the Cittern. So let's all comparer notes. I know if we help each other we can all get better at playing which would be a joy to all in the world.
