    Thumbs up Rock Band helped

This may sounds absolutely ridiculous, or understandable, depending on who you are. Rock band has helped me so much with my actual real-life drumming. I feel like I owe the producers so much! Before I played it, I stuck to just playing 8th and 16th notes for fills and normal beats. Rock band, (and especially Rock Band 2), introduced me to swing as well as well as how to play insanely hard and fast death metal. Visions anyone?
For an example of how much this has worked, listen up:
I made first chair snare at district band (I personally thought I bombed the sight-reading part)
and I got a snare part in my high school drumline as a freshman next year. And just to let you know, that is super rare.

So anyone else, have any similar stories?

While everyone says Rock Band doesn't help with real guitar it has helped my with my timing.
They tell me that you'll lose your mind when you get older. What they don't say is that you won't miss it very much.

RB/GH helped me with real guitar. I can alt-strum in my sleep. The game doesn't help you learn actual chords or songs or anything, but it certainly does help with fundamentals like finger strength and timing.

I can not honestly say that guitar hero or rock band helped me with guitar... it only inspired me to learn it. I don't really understand what you guys are talking about, alt-strumming on a rock band guitar is nothing like alt-strumming on a real guitar, if you did what you do on a rock band guitar, on a real guitar, then you would be grabbing the string and moving it back and forth...

And finger strength? Maybe a really small amount, it is not hard to press those buttons down... you won't be getting tough "guitarist fingers" through rock band...

Timing yes, I suppose it helps with timing, hip hip hooray! I guess we could be happy about that, but I don't compare the rock band guitar to a real guitar sorry

A party voxtarring of Interstate Love Song got me a girlfriend. That alone puts it leagues above most other games. They tend to have the opposite effect.

Have you played other video games that prevent you from walking?

RB was one of the reasons I got into drumming! I've been playing real drums for only 8 months, and I'm already on a student band at my church.
