    What Happened to Main Stream?!?!

When I read the wish list for some people here, I have never heard of some of the bands. Whatever happened to Main Stream Songs and Bands? When I think of wish lists for this game, Again by Alice in Chains is top of my list. Rivera Paradise/ Little Wing by SRV, Love Song by Tesla, these songs need to be put on first.. I mean songs and bands that people have at least heard 1 song from on the radio. I do not mean to be crude or knock anyone's choices, but really?

In an earlier post I knocked Rock Band for picking terrible DLC, but after reading some on the forums I understand why they put some of the stuff out. I know I sound really bad right now, but that is the downfall of text, you can not hear my tone of voice. Back to the list. What about Champagne Super Nova by Oasis? I have waited for that song from GH or RB since this started. Hair Bands would be a nice change as well. Also what happened to the country vibe? They had great releases going for a while, then nope notta.. I actually think they should make a game and call it Country Band. There are just as many great country tunes as rock tunes.

To sum up all Im asking is what happened to Main Stream music? I dig smaller groups and less known bands just as well as the next guy, however, I really want to play the stuff I listened to growing up. Songs that when they hit your ears take you back in time. Popular music. Songs that came on the radio and you and your buds couldnt help but move to. Is it just me? Is Main Stream completely gone?

    ZZ Top
Def Leppard<--- Hysteria album for the win!
    MORE SRV!
    MORE COUNTRY!

    MORE MAIN STREAM!!!!

You see the problem when one person has an opinion of "mainstream". I've bolded a song I've never heard of there you described as mainstream. A quick wiki tells me that it got to number 10 in 1989 in the US, in the UK it didn't chart at all.

This is the problem when people argue for mainstream, when I think of mainstream I think of an artist where if I walked up to a random person of any age or gender they will know EXACTLY who I'm referring to. Of course you do have national differences but there are plenty of names who're known globally by everyone. Artists like Ozzy Osbourne or Miley Cirus would be GREAT mainstream acts if we could get hold of them.

uh... Tesla has been known forever for that powerful Ballad and and many more. Over 14 million albums sold.. They are kind of a big deal.. People know them . Ozzy I will give you, but Miley Cirus needs to go back to the trailer park... really.. Again Alice in Chains, SRV... Still my top "Main Stream" bands. What about Elvis? Things that you have heard on the radio that you know every word to and people just look at you funny... 1 Week by the BNL... ??? Half the people would get lost half way through that song.

They've been known by a small amount of people for one track. Their most succesful song was a rerelease getting in at 8. Two songs getting into the top 10 in a career spanning 22 years and two albums getting in to the top 20 does not define mainstream.

Face facts, you love them but they will not qualify as main stream in anyones book. 14 million albums in 22 years is far from mainstream. Two Nightwish albums alone have sold 16 million plus, would you call them mainstream? As much as I love them I know they're not exactly a band everyone's heard of.

Good Point however...Nightwish doesnt have a huge ballad that they are known for. Does that make Tesla not main stream perhaps.. But my point stands true. If you play the opening lick from that song anyone that likes guitars can name the song. Therefore that 1 song is at least main stream

^That is what I consider "main stream" too , demanding ZZ top , SRV , and country isn't really mainstream ... unless you live in some country area that plays southern rock and country on every station all the time?

Every DLC for the past month aside from Crown of Thorns has been mainstream, and we're getting Miley next week.

Mainstream is pretty open to discussion as others have said.

Good news for you - there is a poster for Country Pack 2 at the RB booth at E3.

Not hearing of a band =/= Not mainstream.

Deftones and Spoon are the only exceptions I could think of that are mainstream, but not everyone knows them, but I can't picture people not knowing who P.O.D., No Doubt, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, or Boys Like Girls is.
