Wow, only 10? That is going to be hard to choose. There are so many good guitarist.

    1. Slash
    2. Stevie Ray Vaughn
    3. Jimi Hendrix
    4. Joe Perry
    5. Jimmy Page
    6. Angus Young
    7. Billy Gibbons
    8. David Gilmour
    9. John Mayer
    10. Mark Tremonti

I know I'll probably get some flack for those last two but I like them. Besides I can't think of anybody else at the moment.

    1. Slash. Hands down.

The others are so hard to choose but some of my favorites (that I can think of) are Tony Iommi, Tom Morello, Richard William, Brian May, Dick Dale, etc...

Slash is basically the picture of what a lead guitarist is supposed to be. At the same time, as good as he is, he leaves much to be desired in the "skill zone". Sure Slash has written some good tunes and solos, but at the same time, he's nowhere near the guitarist that Zakk Wylde, Tom Morello and Eddie Van Halen are to name a few. I like Slash a lot, but listening to him live compared with his peers leaves Slash looking like a second tier guitarist.

    1- Jimi Hendrix
He is the root of what I'd call sloppy electric guitar. He also had great songs and interesting political engagements. And in show, he knew how to drive the crowd crazy.
    2- Jimmy Page
Well I've listened to his riffs and solos recently and looked at the tabs and realised how creative he is and how he mixed indian, blues and rock almost perfectly.
(Yeah, I know, those 2 choices arent really original)
    3- David Gilmour
Pink Floyd is my fav band, he had a totally new way to make solos. Shine on you Crazy Diamond is a heck of a masterpiece.
    4- Tony Iommi
Well this doesnt really needs explanations; he invented Metal and played really good even though he missed some fingers.
    5- John Lennon
He wasn't a very fast player but he was in the Beatle lol.
    6- Eric Clapton
    Crossroads rocks.
    7- Steve Vai
Crossroads rocks. (Btw, I'm talking about the movie, check out
    crossroads guitar duel)
    8- Gary Green
From Gentle Giant, a prog rock band. It's an exceptionnal band.
    9- Robby Krieger
I'm mostly talking about him because he was in The Doors.
    10- Robert Johnson
Crossroads rocks. Lol, well I had to mention him, he invented blues after all.

This is my personnal list btw, it's not about the best guitarists. I also wanted to tell my opinion about Angus Young and Slash. They are both excellent guitarists, but I don't understand all the fans AC/DC and Guns 'N Roses suddenly get. Gun's 'N Roses is a good band that made very, very interesting songs but I'm sure there is a wave effect about them. Objectively, Slash is not the best guitarist ever. I wouldn't be able to name him, maybe it's Duane Allman, maybe it's Zakk Wylde, but anyway. But you are in the right to prefer him to every other guitarists, of course.
Now i'm going to try not to be "mean" but AC/DC really is far from being the most original group. Every song sound the same except Thunderstruck wich sounds slightly different. But still, it must be an amazing band to watch live, but they didn't a lot of new things. Yeah well I hope i didnt hurt anyone lol.

    In no order:

    Axel Rudi Pell (Solo Artist)
Gus G (Firewind, Arch Enemy, Dream Evil)
    Joe Stump (Solo Artist)
    Marty Friedman (Cacophony, Megadeth)
    Herman Li (Dragonforce)
    Jason Becker (Cacophony)
    Karl Sanders (Nile)
John Petrucci (Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment)

Thats 8, and I can't think of any more right now... Probably not the most accurate list either.
