Downloadable songs

Just acquired lego rockband, great fun game.
Question, will downloaded songs automatically transfer to other rockband games? I know guitar hero does starting from # 5 up.

There are no Lego Rock Band-specific downloads. Anything you download from the Lego Rock Band in-game store will work in Rock Band 2 or the upcoming Rock Band 3. You can also "export" the LRB disc songs to Rock Band 2/3 for a small fee. (Really, RB2 downloads the LRB songs from the network, but you need the LRB game disc+key to access this facility).

If you download songs directly from the console's main store or from the Rock Band 2 in-game store, only the songs deemed "family-friendly" will work in Lego Rock Band. This is about half of them, and should be indicated in the description of the songs.

so if I were to import all the tracks from RB 1 would they all play in lego rock band ?

I think only 23 (give or take) of the 55 Rock Band 1 songs are playable.
