I hate when bands that are on major labels call themselves indie. You are not indie folks, you are poser.
I find progressive to be diluted year after year after year. Progressive rock has a very, very distinct feel and sound to it. It's still a good descriptor when used properly but in just the last ten years it's become really overused and broadened more than it should, imo. Everything gets progressive- stamped on it, it seems. Another ten years and who's to say.

I sort of agree, but know exactly what the term refers to so I can understand why it exists. Saying black/death with martial-esque rhythms is a mouthful, so war metal works better.
And avant-garde works perfectly as it is intended to work, but people misuse the term all the time. Avant-garde is not a genre, it is a state of conventional musical structures and tendencies being absent from ones music.
